  1. I've gone past two of these new poliscans in the past few days. One was on hepburn ave and another was on beach road. My radar detector (escort redline) picked up the one on hepburn ave about 150m away in medium traffic, and picked up the one on beach road about 100m away with no traffic ahead and on top of a crest. BTW how to the new red light/speed cameras work? My radar detector hasn't gone off at all sitting at the lights even when I saw someone speed up to get through the amber too late and run a red light.
  2. These stories don't count if you are on your P plates. Police will harass ANY P plater no matter what car they are driving for the tiniest offence or even suspicion. I've driven my skyline daily for 4 years now without P plates and I've only been pulled over when I've been a naughty boy. Haven't been pulled over for a RBT or anything like that by a patrol car.
  3. In my experiences the cops don't treat you any worse. I've been caught by hand-held lasers a couple of times (just doing a few k's over) with the radar detector in full view. I think it actually makes the cops happier, because they managed to "catch" you even though you had a radar detector. The cops either mentioned whether it went off or completely ignored the radar detector. Just given me a warning or a ticket and sent me on my way, didn't start giving me a hard time with a RBT, checking tyres, asking me to pop the hood, etc. The multinovas are getting phased out anyway and replaced by laser so it doesn't matter if they ban them eventually. Everybody will just end up getting those parking sensors that also just happen to jam laser. I find the radar detectors are great for knowing when emergency services or roadworks are about... I've always wondered how deaf drivers know about emergency vehicles without checking their mirrors for flashing lights every second?
  4. No idea about the new point to point speed cameras, but the other night on channel nine news they said police were starting to use the new LIDAR speed cameras. The ones that are laser based instead of radar based and can capture photos of the front and back of vehicles traveling in both directions across two lanes each side. They are going to rake in the cash on people going 5-10km/s over the limit especially with the point to point speed cameras. They might as well just make it illegal to drive and force everybody onto public transport.... they'd still make money so it wouldn't surprise me
  5. they should ban this event from perth now and bring the rally back!
  6. Yeah tyres make a huge difference. When I bought the car it had some crappy linglongs that had zero grip in the wet. Had to drive sooo much slower than other traffic as the slightest touch of gas (even on flat roads) would spin the wheels. Got some decent tyres soon after and the difference is night and day. If you have good tyres and still can't drive in the wet without the backend stepping out you shouldn't be driving. Especially if you're one of those losers who tailgate when it's raining or take corners at the same speed as if the road was dry... I don't want to see you in my rear view mirror.
  7. I use Peak 98 and filled up today without any issues.
  8. I drove through a pretty long deep puddle other people were too scared of driving through (doing u-turns even 4wds lol). It wouldn't have reached the POD filter but sure would have got to the intercooler. Don't think any water got into the engine as I didn't notice any major differences when driving today. I assume it would be really noticeable if you bent a con-rod like running without a cylinder firing pretty much? Mates lancer got hit with hail stones and he just recently took the natural disaster off his insurance to get a cheaper premium haha "There are never any natural disasters in perth..."
  9. My aircon works great on 18 degrees... then you bump it up to 19 degrees and it's like maximum heat lol. So I'm left with the option of either freezing cold or boiling hot
  10. Well reading what autoworx quoted I would say it isn't illegal to have a turbo timer installed. But it would be illegal to have it turned on and running for any more than 0 seconds after you turn the ignition off.
  11. Whitfords ave near wanneroo road seems to get new pot holes every week in the same sections of the road. They patch them up and then a week later there will be a new pot hole 1 foot away from the patched one they've just done. Maybe they should spend some of that money they make from speeding tickets on that road to actually fixing said road properly.
  12. I like how you can capture videos so you can share them. More games need this feature! Here's a couple of my videos That mountain track is pure awesome. Shame the new GTR isn't in the game, hopefully it will be available as download content later on.
  13. I got the custom number plate NUMBAPL8... wicked hey? /sarcasm everyone knows custom plates are lame
  14. they're all pretty dodgy IMO. I'd pick innaloo if I had to. Armadale train line is the worst you're better off just stabbing yourself at home.
  15. Can someone please PM the name of this workshop? My issue is not that they drove the car without permission but that they lied about it afterwards.. what else are they prepared to lie about? Wouldn't trust my vehicle to a liar no matter how much it was worth.
  16. The other week I got pulled over in freo for a "random" breath test. The cops were looking around my car and asked me to rev the engine as they suspected my exhaust was illegal (lol). Then they said my tyre tread looked pretty low... I had just got 4 brand new tyres 2 hours ago and still had the receipt in the car. After that embarrassment they left straight away. They seriously need to take a basic mechanics course if they are supposed to judge whether a car is roadworthy / has illegal modifications. I wished there was a film crew there!
  17. I got the R34 GTR poster (same one on allposters.com) mounted as a bday present from my Dad. Asked him where he got it from (as he would have got it locally) and he can't remember, I wanted to get some more mounted posters of motor vehicles / motorsports
  18. That also gmg... no way to go over it without hearing a nasty scrape! I literally avoid that maccas just because of the speed bump... was so much better when they didn't have any! That maccas is shit anyway, they always stuff up orders and only fill the chips up half way although most maccas seem to be doing this now... I always tell them to get stuffed and fill it up properly.
  19. Usually getting on the brakes is the worst thing you can do. I tend to power through it on my cheap budget tyres. I should invest in some performance tyres but have more important things to spend my money on atm.
  20. I still think they should have some empty tarmac 'carparks' around perth (obviously not near houses) for 'hoons' to go to and do burnouts for free. Just whack a sign on the entry saying the driver is responsible for any damage/injury/loss of life to cover their arse from a lawsuit. Would keep a few of them from doing it in suburbs at midnight or later. Anyway you were very unlucky, you were trying to be safe by doing it in an empty carpark at a time when nobody was around (except the plod!). Of course the court/law won't give a crap about that.
  21. Hopefully they catch who did it otherwise I think you will unfortunately be left short changed by your insurance company. If you don't have third party with theft then they won't cover it at all, and if you do they'll only pay out a certain amount in some circumstances (last time i looked it was up to $10k with just cars).
  22. I love the rain and my hard suspension... not. Sure it handles fantastically in the dry (which WA mostly is), but in the wet it becomes near impossible to drive normally. Even letting the clutch out near stall point on a slight incline and barely touching the throttle it will nearly always spin the wheels for a little bit. Just have to power through it and ignore the dirty looks from nearby drivers Anyway, no accidents but I definitely have respect for wet roads and don't do anything stupid (at least when there are other people on the road ). I drive slower/brake earlier than a grandma when it rains haha
  23. Good driving roads are only good when nobody else knows about them, so you'll never get a good response. You'll just get the typical hills/coast run that every man and his dog goes along. Most good roads are hours away... funnily enough where less people are! If you're not game enough to go out for a random drive heading in no particular direction to find yourself a good road, I guess you could use google maps and street view lol
  24. Radar detector? Just get a radar jammer... sure it's illegal but well worth it especially when the traffic cops aren't doing their duty. I'm pretty sure the majority of the community doesn't want speed cameras on the road. Cops can't search your car anyway for a jammer unless you let them or give them a reason to. Not only that, they put them in zones where the speed limit suddenly drops 10-20km/h to catch people out, hide them in bushes/around bends/hill crests and now apparently the back of cars. How about putting them in plain sight to you know DETER people from speeding rather than taking their happy snap? Or having more marked police cars / officers on the road with hand held lasers to actually tell them off rather than just pocketing cash. Obviously they know hiding them doesn't work if they have to put 3 of them within 1-2km for the holidays down south. Anytime you see a marked cop on the road everybody does 5-10km/h under the speed limit, much more effective then an undercover cop pulling just one person over. Anyway, WA is turning into a shithole with all the old generation politicians and the police commisioner making up ridiculous laws, enforcing absurd policies and advertising scare mongering tactics to win over the votes of the largest demographic in WA... old geezers. Like they didn't do the same if not worse stuff when they were young, like when the BAC was 0.08% or didn't even exist.
  25. Yeah third party insurance should be compulsary. I've had third party for ~3 years with my skyline, already saved myself ~4.5k in just renewal let alone if I was to actually make a claim (which I haven't). No amount of damage apart from a write off is going to do that much damage unless you write your car off, and you have to be doing something pretty stupid to do that. If it's the other guys fault, then their insurance should over it or you hunt them down like a dog if they're uninsured. Fully comprehensive insurance is only worth it for people who can't drive safely/proactively (rather than reactively) and for cars worth more than 15k+ that you plan to own for more than a few years.
