Pins On Guages

i got astock guage cluster in my r33, and you can buy they plastic dial faces that u can put on the guages, but you need to remove the pin, is this smart? im thinking not, has anyone else replaced just the faces of the guages?

when i did the dial face in my vt you had to do the same thing.. it is fiddly to get the needles back on acuratly..

are these the gauge overlays from ebay etc, some skylines gauge needles dont come off, you are meant to cut a slit and put the cover on with needle in place..
