Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone might be able to tell me where I can find some replacement pillowball bearings for the strut tops in my HKS hipermax coilovers? I have been searching on the interwebs and it seems that they wear out quite frequently, being a spherical bearing of course they would and I would have thought they werent so difficult to locate, but I cant find where to get them from? - Or if they are just totally unavailable, what can I do/use to replace them? - I would be happy with a rubber mount - I just want something that doesn't sound like a datsun 120Y :)

Thanks in advance :(

UAS had some HKS pillowball mounts on it's shelves when I went in today.

Didn't get a price or anything tho, and they don't seem to have them listed on their site.

Maybe it's worth giving them a call.

Cheers Dave, thats what UAS actually recommended :( I was thinking that no way they would be a standard bearing! Happy to be wrong this time tho! -I will see if I can find out the specific type/part numbers and post them up should anyone need in future

most spherical bearings used in shocks have a teflon liner

i have replaced a few

a normal spherical bearing with out the liner or bush will cost aprox 25

a teflon lined or bushed spherical bearing will cost around 90- 140

teflon bushed have a much higher load rating

u may need a special tool to remove the bearing from the shock top

i had problems finding the exact size i needed , had to mod/machine the tein top

i got my last lot from SES linear bearings , milperra, 9792 7188

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
