Hey i am about to put twin turbos back on my car after a problem with the single turbo conversion and the pits not passing it, now i cant decide between the 2860r - 5's or the -7's. I have a single gt3076r on the car now and its just not got enough power, its only making mid 300hp range though, im hoping for around the 420hp range or so with reasonable boost levels and not too much lag. I dare say the 3076r is too responsive, though it is a 3L bottom end, but im thinking of going back to the complete rb26 engine setup.

Now could any perth guys with preferably stock cammed rb26 take me for a 2 min drive to see how the lag is on the 2 different setups. Im mainly interested in the feel of the -5's, i have already been in a car with the -7s (though it was with poncams and built motor). Even a spin in a -7 equipped car with stock cams would be ideal, as i dont want to upgrade cams in near future.

I live in the northern suburbs (Joondalup area) but am willing to meet anywhere really, give me a PM if someone can possibly help.

cheers

Hey Mate,

My car has been in the workshop getting 2860-5's, 6 Boost, etc.... Its a built motor with Arias 87mm Forgies, etc.. Tunning will be performed tomorrow or Monday then I'll get the car back!!

I would be happy to take you for a drive so you can compare agaist the 7's.

The engine went in last Thursday. Cars been at Tenagah since September 08!! (Not their fault though, I've been waiting for certain parts).

sorry i thought the engine just went in today cuz i saw one of the mechanics working on the underbody and looked like he was aligning something( probably gearbox or engine onto its mounts) but i was outside when i saw him doing the work so didnt get a good look. nice car btw :) . saw your engine while its still on stands as well.

    • When you pulled it off, there is no signs of blown head gasket? Is it possible you have some other issues going on? Possible cracked blocked? Or do you think it's straight up lifting the head? Did you check what the head was torqued to before pulling it down (To see if possibly they're stretching, or starting to break threads out etc)?
    • Seems like a decent result for a modded JZX110. They are bulky in comparison to the 100 and 90 models (which I'd prefer myself) but they are getting very few and far between here in JP these days. Thanks for the detailed review and the import process into the UK. I also have a car which I'm hoping to export from Japan at some stage so it's good to know if someone from the UK was interested in it. By the way the corrosion underneath is par for the course for cars which were located in/near the mountains or along the Japan sea coastline. They get huge amounts of snow every winter and the sodium chloride is used on the roads. Many cars have some kind of rubber like treatment underneath but they tend to limit it to the wheel arches underbody and fuel tank. Suspension arms and sub-frames will have similar corrosion to your JZX110 which is a common sight. See it all the time and car dealers here generally don't even mention it unless asked.
    • If the sound goes away when you clutch in, the 1.5/2 way diffs are just shit, and you are a normal person. The diff is likely "fine" but driving at anything under 30kmh is a violent horrible experience. It would be exaggerated with solid diff bushings and subframe bushings if you have those.
