Firstly, my apologies for not checking up on this thread for a while!! I realise that the laws are different from state to state and that QLD may not have the same issues - yet. The point is that the various versions of these laws around Australia all share the same key characteristic - that they are fundamentally unjust and unsound and represent an attack on civil liberties. I have no doubt that many young drivers, whatever their ride, are irresponsible and need to be brought to book in some way. However, the standard laws already on the statute, for dangerous driving, reckless driving, etc. present sufficient means for that, without the imposition of laws that allow unfettered discretion to the boys in blue.

I would add that I am unable to spend the time checking threads in each state's area (daft idea, really) so I will leave this thread to those in QLD who care to think about the matter. Perhaps there are some amongst you who will appreciate the greater issue, see it as something worth fighting for and take that fight on in your own way.

Cheers.

Thanks Stagman. I had a look at it too... seems old and... umm... foolish.

A Lady who lives around the corner from me and is in a Traffic branch sent me through an email with the link. Apparently there are alot of minutes being passed on discussion how they can combat us 'hoons'. When the act is another story.

this is my favourite:

Parking up: when hoons gather in large numbers, look at each others cars, network and

arrange illegal behaviours.

I do recall reading somewhere that australia is indeed a free country. If we are going to "park up" and dick measure and spin shit who really cares?

its the land of the free...

as for the rest of it... a good lawyer said to me "cops are everywhere... just make sure your not seen doing the wrong thing"

I think this might be a bit off topic but here goes

first funny enough wasn't in a skyline it was in "92 magna...(shame lol) first car I owed I'd get pulled over for random breath test 7... yes that's 7 time during friday night sat and Sunday it had nothing done to it besides a single 12"sub and 2 6x9 speakers I got pulled over for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign and he had a go at me for the way I sat in the car (back of seat on a diagonal..) let me off without a ticket lucky enough...

Again in the magna parked in front of a takeaway store with no houses in close hearing range got told my stereo was too loud (on 12 with the att button on) I then turned it down to 6 (begging to god that I don't hit it the wrong way as att cancels) I was then told to turn it down even further... I could barely hear and I was in the car.....

Next up my skyline I was stalked through slacks creek (I was looking for an import wrecker) I say stalked as they could seem to always be going the opposite way, finally when they do I get pulled over for a "random" breath test licence check and a visual inspection...

Skyline again got pulled over for on the way home from getting my cat installed when I get pulled over left in direct sunlight for half an hour while he checked my details then continue to tell me that my steering wheel isn't legal due to having no cushioning the the middle... and My bonnet isn't legal due to it's fibreglass and the only fibreglass bonnets are allowed on lancers as they come stock (I don't know if that's true but I do doubt it) once again didn't book me but he did break the wire to my bonnet pins.

Ok I drive a r33 with a veilside kit non turbo going down the warrego highway and a police car was parked stopping traffic before a turn off I'm in the right hand lane not sure as to what is happening I slowed down and stopped the female officer comes over yelling at me say "what didn't you see the cop car in the middle of the road" I slowly quietly stated that I was unaware of what was going on and didn't want to cause any problems. she then yells her reply saying "isn't it bloody obvious?" then storms off and clears a path, although it wasn't a bright move on my behalf in the first place (in my defense I had been working from 6pm to 6am and just wanted to get home) she shouldn't have gone off her tree at me and not say anything at all to the 4 other cars that were behind me doing the exact same...

Finally... Lol I don't know if this helps but it's my experiences with the boys in blue

mate got done by a chopper doing 154kmph in a 90 zone, overtaking 5 cars. in a Nissan pulsar lmao. its also his grandma's hah ha. anyway his car was impounded for 48 hours, and he lost his license for a week for every km he was over the speed limit... gotta love that judges creativity :P so yeah 64 weeks license loss. and also somewhere around $2500 worth of fines. . .but he had a prior offence of 120 in the same 90 zone. idiot. he deserves what he got.

Good read on this topic. I think cops are assholes sometimes they are abuse there power, I have had my own experiences and heard about them all. But sometimes they are ok and just doing their job. Their jobs which is molded by silly laws and policies like Hooning.

It is a bit sad for me to read this document. It seems well at discrimination, outlining a 'Hoon' and then some real stupid stuff suggesting that all are Hoons who 'Park Up' or whatever at Harry’s Diner on a Friday night. It also goes into how younger drivers that are those below 25 years old are under peer pressure. And later describes about these youths in Warick are an example of Hoons caused by boredom and whatnot. The guy who wrote up made up these policies needs to have a better look at the youths. It maybe that youths are know finding other antisocial things to do rather than hoon and then evade the police who are driving cars that are "perceived high performance of a V8 car."

This is true crap from the ass of someone.

:P that document says some silly stuff like all are Hoons who attend Harrys Cafe on a Friday evening. It mentions how if "parked up" and we have a common interest at the time we must be planning something illegal. Gezz this stuff is a bit stupid, next thing the Terrorist policies will be used against us because we are apart of a "club" or somethin.

Here is a different one

I was towing my tandem trailer with my two stand up skis on it

It wasn't registered and the trailer lights weren't going

I was threatened with the hoon law and told I could be made to leave the skis there

Lucky I am 40 years old and so command a bit more respect than a 19 year old male

I started to nut off and asked them do they really want this to hit the news, they gave me a ticket and let me on my way

Ok I bit the bullet and called Steve peck (46316777) who is in Qld Police Traffic

I just wanted to clear the air with all the smoke and mirrors and just called and asked

I was pulled for being a few mm’s to low awhile ago and the officer advised that I’ll be on the hoon list etc etc

Steve peck advised that this is correct and will stand for 3 years as it is a Type 2e offence

Where after the 4th time you then lose your car for good

and also any other car after the 4th time you will then lose your car for every type 2e offence after that

................................................................................

...............................................................

Ill also add Steve Peck is a delightful chap to talk to and answered any questions no matter how stupid

Hope this clears up any questions if any?

    • Block bump. $400. As above cyl 6 needs bore or sleeve.
    • I would think making the argument that the travel is limited by a spring flexing against a spring perch as "the same method". Later on in the document they do state that the spring can't bind on full bump travel and cannot come loose in full rebound travel as well. (which is all very sensible). The laws are actually pretty sensible and reasonable. It's just that the people who enforce and check them don't actually read them or know them accurately. "Oh, coilovers? Instant fail mate. Don't even need to look at it." - Guy who will be instantly reported by me. There is probably merit to people who do get defected for height also get defected for the suspension in that state that allows it. I did never consider the people who are complaining about coilovers being picked on are also running around at 50mm off the floor.
    • I think given SAU's knowledge of E85 we can strongly conclude that 10% ethanol in almost any situation is entirely fine. Almost all of the myths against E85 were overblown, let alone E10.
    • From your link See bold text, is this referring to damper settings, if so that may a issue for "some" inspectors, I cannot see aftermarket coilovers having the evidence that "must be available that its functional performance is equivalent to the original" Maybe just remove the adjustment knows and hope for the best???? Meh 5.2 Suspension travel In all instances, modifications to a vehicle’s suspension must ensure the integrity of the system and not compromise the ride quality. At least two thirds of the original suspension travel should be maintained in both directions (rebound (i.e. extension) and bump (i.e. compression)), and rebound must be limited by the same method used by the vehicle manufacturer or if this is not practicable due to the nature of the modification, an equivalent method. If an alternative method is used, evidence must be available that its functional performance is equivalent to the original.
    • They actually don't - They adhere to VSB14 rules just like Victoria. The rules are against CABIN adjustable height, and it quite clearly states that the height has to be within parameters. I asked the VASS engineer to confirm this when I got my car engineered and they refused to engineer the coilovers because they didn't meet the requirements for requiring engineering. (mine are height adjustable.) People "Not wanting to bother" with "Actually reading/knowing/adhering to the rules" should result in fines and immediately losing the ability to issue blue slips and/or RWC's in Vic.
