Hot Gearbox

I replaced the Transmission oil in a manual last week on an r32. I used VMX80. The gear stick used to get warm with the old oil which looked as if it hadnt been changed in its 100,000km life. Now with the VMX80 it seems to get much warmer without even giving it a real thrashing.

Any ideas?

VMX80 is resonably thick, especially for a performance G/box.

Most import manuals will tell that the G/box oil never needs changing... Bullshit.

But it doesn't need to be changed very often. I would recommend u go and spend some money on decent synthetic B/box oil.

lol VMX is not reasonbly thick. Its damn thin. 75W-80 is about the thinnest gear oil you'll find!

Maybe the VMX 80 isnt too good in ur box and u need something with better protection. Try Castrol Syntrans (synthetic).
