Hey guy i need a bit of a definative answer please,

i have recently dropped an RB25 into my Laurel, so last weekend using the stock computer and AFM i ran the motor in after its rebuild, then during the week when we went to get it tuned the PFC i have would not let the car start, with the ignition on the computer would switch on get onto the monitor screen but then a relay at the back of the car would keep clicking off an on and the car would turn over but not fire, so then sticking a screw driver onto the 1st and 6th injectors would could not even here them firing.

So the question is what model PFC should i be using, i have one with the seriel number PFC RB259911-0009 but have since found a couple on other cars with the number ECR33010-****

Now going on the premise that if i had any wiring wrong to start the standard computer would not work and if anything was wrong with the PFC it wouldn't even load up as far as any menu's but mine i can get right into the monitor screen and check the AFM values etc, so does anyone know what the deal is.

Also the car has been stripped of excess wiring from the stereo, heaters, any door wiring(windows central locking etc) and air conditioning would any of this be the cause

Cheers

Nick

the PFC unit you have is correct, there are two versions of the apexi PFC for R33 Skyline

RB25 and ECR33 model codes - both work fine and will no issues, RB25 is first generation, ECR33 unit code is 2nd generation

it sounds like the PFC you have, has a fault with it, or something is wrong with your car

I would remove the PFC, put your stock ecu back in, confirm the car works and runs, starts OK

then if it does, reinstall the PFC and turn the car to ON, but dont start it, the hand controller should boot up and be normal (no clicking etc)

if its clicking, the PFC is damaged or your wiring is mangled (check if car is OK with stock ecu)

cheers guys,

first off, car runs absolutely fine on the standard computer, i've done about 800kms over last weekend running everything in making sure there was no issues with the car before installing the PFC boosting it up.

As for the battery i've relocated it to the boot but as it has been good for starting the car with no issues on the standard computer,

I haven't had another 33 to check the pfc on but i talked to the mechanic who tuned the car it came out of and he said it was fine and had no issues with his tuning,

but also when my mechanic went to try and wipe the original tune of it and start mine from scratch the computer wouldn't allow him to do that either with the laptop or the hand controller.

Could it be that i need to upgrade the main power wire from the battery directly to the computer so it doesn't have any voltage drop travelling halfway around the car from the boot to engine bay then back into the cabin?

Cheers for your help guys, i now have the problem sorted and the car runs on the PFC,

It was a lack of power issue as you said DirtGarage, it seems in the transplant of putting the 25 into the Laurel i missed out on wiring in the Unswitched power onto the computer and in so getting the full 12v power to the ECCS relay.

Cheers

    • He obviously had his reason for flipping you off. I wonder what it was...
    • Thats why I stay far, far away from Eastwood. only go there if I wanna eat Korean food
    • I have to agree like, yesterday, I was driving down the warringah freeway towards the bridge when this jackass driving a beaten up Honda civic cut me off so suddenly it made me almost yank the wheel to avoid him hitting my car. Honestly and he had the NERVE to flip me off (or some other gesture Idk). Im a calm guy, but really some people just dont deserve to have a license, let alone be allowed to drive on densely populated roads/highways. If youre gonna cut through lanes at least use the damn turn signal
    • HPA do an interesting video on tuning, and Adrian shows on the dyno, moving from 10:1 to 12:1 (And I think even 13:1) and the power moves SFA. However, a couple of degrees of timing has a HUGE impact. Exhaust side of things will more be the length of the exhaust and how many bends and turns you have. The straighter you can keep it, the better. By a lot. Oh, and getting the diameter right. Bigger isn't always better. Going to big can actually lose you power.
    • I have to say, most people I see on the road fit the bill of atrocious drivers. Whether they be cowboys in their dual cabs, bogans in the Commodores, or the soccer mums. Pretty much most people on the road put zero freaking thought into driving. Barely look further up the road then the end of their bonnet, and have never even thought about how catastrophically wrong shit can go, by doing what they all deem as normal driving. Especially their late braking, racing to stopped lights, and sitting half a foot off the bumper of the car in front at 110km/h. Wanna know what's even better? By the time their kids get to be old enough to learn to drive, they've already got in the back of their brain what is normal driving, how annoyed you're allowed to get at people etc, and then their parents who actually have zero freaking skill at driving (Even though they constantly say "I've been driving for 20 years and never had an accident!") teach the little twerps how to drive, or should I say, how to make a car move. Literally watched a parent teach their L Plater, on a 4 lane freeway, that you just slam the brakes on, and push your way over, even with a B Double bearing down on you, and that's how you should drive, rather then, just keep going to the next exit. Same shit happens all the time for side streets etc, watching numpties pull dumb shit turns pushing across 3 lanes of traffic, rather than just go up the road another 30 seconds, and take the next turn that'll get you to the same location... Oh, and the damn right lane bandits. Or the retards driving along with their headphones in, and can't hear the ambulance or fire truck right up their ass about to run them over...   Pretty much, people drive on the road, like ego centric f**ks, and don't actually think how dumb shit their driving is, how it could easily kill them or someone else in a split second, or at the very least, how they're driving is contributing to all the shit they're bitching about on the road, like shitty congestion!
