Has there ever been an sr20 powered gtr?

I'm a little confused as to why no japanese tuners have ever done this, as i think an rb26 is a disadvantage especially on a track like tsukuba.

Imagine the m-speed r34 gt-r with a stroked sr20.. it would be much lighter, and i'm sure it would produce more low down grunt then an rb26, especially seeing as tho the car would be much lighter.

hell you could even use an sr20ve head to make a broader, higher revving power-band.

and if that wasnt enough you could add a roots supercharger to help the turbo spool up faster..

hks and bee-r have made kits.

whats your thoughts?

Tuning garage "Signal" in Japan put a SR20DET in a R35(V35) for pure drift setup.

I was assuming the VQ35DE was a tad peaky when drifting and spun a lot more as opposed to the SR20DET which is most popular amounst drifter...

Just guessing.

Problem with that is you'd have to mate the block to a front diff.

This would be an absolute nightmare!

I too toyed with the idea of an SR in a 32 but its simply not worth it. An SR in an S13 is fine, its a light engine in a light chassis.

Skylines need the enxtra torque from a 6 banger and cc's from 25's & 26's. They are a fair bit heavier. A GTR weighs what? 1400kg?

Yes there is more weight but you need the extra poke and torque from an RB. You would have to spend a little money on an SR to keep up with a RB26.

An SR in a stripped 32 is a different story.

Thats just my veiws on it..

you can achieve better weight distribution by putting a SR into a r32. the engine bay is designed for a inline 6 so the front axles sit further from the firewall (or the firewall sits further back from the front axles, whichever way you want to put it). so by using the sr20, you get the advantage of almost a mid engined car as most of the engine sits behind the front axle.

yes the gtr is a 1400kg car, but only because of the heavy 4wd system and the iron block inline 6. drop a alloy block sr20 and ditching the 4wd system, you could get the weight right down.

the sr20 has had a lot of development as well and big useable power can be obtained.

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
