Hi guys,

I am intending to purchase 400R side skirts for my R33, but I noticed that there are some going around without the little vent thing in them, (i.e. without the cut outin the side skirt)

Are these also 400R side skirts, if so, where can I get my hands on some that don't have the cut out (saves me from having to fiberglass the one with the hole)?

Cheers

Show some pics.. then we can look at what side skirts your talking about (might not even be 400r

If you go to the following link you will see them:

As you can see the skirts on the white R33 don't have holes in them....

dont touch anything off ebay.

I would say that white 400r kit might have white mesh on there.

Having said that however i got some jun sides off ebay. They didnt have holes cut, the were broken and they were of real shit quality.

NEVER BUY A KIT FROM EBAY

^ worst advise ever

when u get it painted, ask the person to fill up the hole

Its not a big job but may cost a little extra

I will be painting and fitting them myself, it would just save me time not having to fibreglass it by getting it without the whole.

Thanks anyways lads.

the only reason I suggest mybodykits off ebay is because Ive bought quite a few things off him full kit m-sport r33/r32 gtr front bar/r33 trial front bar and they have been the best quality fibreglass I've used anyway its up to you..

Yes I did purchase them from him, good quality stuff I must say, feels very sturdy.

I fiberglassed the holes and painted them. Will post pics soon. job turned out well, would have saved me some time but not to fibre glass them.

:D

Should always pre fit body kits cause they rarely fit. You might get lucky but more then likely you may have to do some changes to get it to fit.

WHat sort of changes? WHy would painting it matter?

If you did have to make alterations, commen sense tells me that it would be on the edges or on the inside of the side skirt, why would you have to modify the outside of the skirt since it doesn't impeed on anything?

well if you had to modify the edges on top of the paint job it would be seen wouldnt it? In that case if you wanted it to look pro you would have to re do the paint.

Common sense would have told me to pre fit before paint but what ever you say.

And you'd modify edges on the top that don't touch anything because....??

as i said because it would be SEEN! When you open the door. Also what if you havent sanded it down enough and you close the door and it hits the skirt, then you will chip or remove a layer of paint/fibreglass.

    • The oil pressure sensor for logging, does it happen to be the one that was slowly breaking out of the oil block? If it is,I would be ignoring your logs. You had a leak at the sensor which would mean it can't read accurately. It's a small hole at the sensor, and you had a small hole just before it, meaning you could have lost significant pressure reading.   As for brakes, if it's just fluid getting old, you won't necessarily end up with air sitting in the line. Bleed a shit tonne of fluid through so you effectively replace it and go again. Oh and, pay close attention to the pressure gauge while on track!
    • I don't know it is due to that. It could just be due to load on track being more than a dyno. But it would be nice to rule it out. We're talking a fraction of a second of pulling ~1 degree of timing. So it's not a lot, but I'd rather it be 0... Thicker oil isn't really a "bandaid" if it's oil that is going to run at 125C, is it? It will be thicker at 100 and thus at 125, where the 40 weight may not be as thick as one may like for that use. I already have a big pump that has been ported. They (They in this instance being the guy that built my heads) port them so they flow more at lower RPM but have a bypass spring that I believe is ~70psi. I have seen 70psi of oil pressure up top in the past, before I knew I had this leak. I have a 25 row oil cooler that takes up all the space in the driver side guard. It is interesting that GM themselves recommend 0-30 oil for their Vette applications. Unless you take it to the track where the official word is to put 20-50w oil in there, then take that back out after your track day is done and return to 0-30.
    • Nice, looks great. Nice work getting the factory parts also. Never know when you'll need them.
    • Thanks @jtha7 I will have a look around tomorrow but it is a prick of a spot. These are some photos i tried taking
    • I take it that the knock retard is from bearings tapping a little tune? Thicker oil is a fragile bandaid. You need a much bigger oil cooler and probably the bigger pump being discussed.
