I own a Mazda SP20 yes it feels fast and yes it isn't but boy does it handle well:uh-huh:

The performance envelope is much higher with a turbo 'line compared to an SR20 pulsar, and I think it's enjoyable to simply have that potential there - although it will also be frustrating not being able to use it :P

I will say, I had HEAPS of fun in my old 91 charade 1.3 - 61.5kW at the wheels and a torque curve that was flat to redline it used to rev its tits off. And the best thing was 2nd redlined at about 80 so you could give it some curry into 3rd and still be doing a sane speed. It handled like a go-kart too so it was much fun to punt around corners you just hooked it in and it stuck, and felt like you were going fast (and I've had people express surprise when following me at how nimbly I could negotiate a set of corners compared to them).

So much respect to the zippy camp but as always you want bigger, faster, stronger.. I'll be fortunate enough to have the best of both worlds in that I can still keep driving our SSS occasionally when I upgrade to turbo and RWD. :)

Great thread.

Really enjoyable reading, I agree with a lot of points.

I think this is the main thing that swayed me off the skyline GTST's so much.. (particularly the r33's..) they are SUCH a big car! And as stock comparison do times almost as good as my s13. The problem I had during the test drives?

The Skyline did not feel as small, chuckable and FUN as my beloved 20det' silvia. Because it was such a big, stable ride, you really have to push it to the edge (which is quite illegal) to make that smile creep across your face. Track day? Definately.

The lame-as-hell FWD barina I was driving around in while my car was being repaired however.. floor it around every corner, rev the hell out of the engine, gobble up the gears and you FEEL like you're racing (shitty suspension, nippy bite, shitty traction and handling) but you're actually doing under the speed limit.. lol!

Moving right along. my next car is going to be the R32 GTR. It has mind exploding performance in a relatively small car, and I believe even at low speeds you can still have fun in this car... more to the point over the R33. It has that same chuckability, has the image, its the right price and you know if you leave it for 10 minutes in a car park, unlike the later models it won't get scratched by some jealous Ford owner.

If the world turned on its head tommorow and R33 GTR's and R32's where the same price, and the same age (impossible, but hypothetically..) I would DEFINATELY go the r32 gtr for the reasons stated above in this thread.

:P

Great thread and I agree with so many points here.

I am about to buy an r34 skyline and when I took one earlier this week for a test drive I couldn't even really get it into 3rd gear. The sales guy actually told me to try to keep a watch on the speedo and damn I was speeding.. again and again during what was a pretty short test drive without knowing it. The car just feels so stable at speed (in a straight line) and it gets to 80 damn quick. I also freaked out when I put a little too much accelerator on (I could have sworn I didn't put on much at all) and the rear just slid out! Sure it looked cool. Sure it felt cool. Sure if I got one I would do it again and again and probably finally get busted, or smack the car into another car doing it.

I love driving my little Alfa 147 hard (not so fast but the feeling of throwing it into corners without needing to brake before them is great). It's naturally a revvy machine. And when I hop into my sister's little civic I have just as much, if not more fun as it's so easy to drive and you can really throw the crap out of it into a corner and the car will really let you know it's limits: ie: it's never scary.

But alas. I have always wanted a Turbo car. So far. After going through this Forum (great one BTW) I'm scared of:

A) The image that comes with a Skyline (I'd hate to draw any more attention to the cops in general).

B) The stories I have heard of people wanting to steal them.

    • You can use your VIN to look up the factory part number somewhere like amayama, and then look to order new if necessary. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/nissan Depending on price you might want to rebuild instead. @GTSBoy I had an interesting insight into US market parts when the Titan rear calipers were sticking. New calipers were dirt cheap, about 20% more than a rebuild kit....they are just considered throw away maintenance items

    • Lots of votes for driving onto a plank first; that is the quickest way I've found, 25mm is enough for my case but that will vary by car It also depends where you are going for. On the 32 I can get to the rear diff with my floor jack if I do that end first, and get it up on stands. Then I lift the front from either front tow hook as high as needed, also onto stands. Sometimes I need a small lift on the other tow hook to get it level enough If I do the front first I can't get to the rear diff because of the angle of the car Other options are getting to the front mount of the rear subframe from in front of the wheel (if only lifting one side, or just do both which is a bit of a pain compared to one lift from the diff), or also the gearbox cross member mount on the driver's side if you are  just trying to lift the driver's side. I This is the jack I use; it says 75mm clearance but of course that is only on the lower section so if you have to reach too far in like the diff you still get stuck. https://www.snapon-bluepoint.com.sg/category/Floor-Jacks/product/Floor-Jack,-2-Ton-Low-Profile

    • Ok so i will NEED to have this sensor anyway even with Nistune (or standalone ECU) https://justjap.com/products/genuine-nissan-boost-pressure-sensor-evap-control-system-fits-nissan-r34-skyline-c34-nm35-stagea-pnt30-x-trail-rb25det-vq25det-sr20vet?currency=AUD&srsltid=AfmBOoqfxX48bW9bEwH62orcNhtBfp7ekAL0C9Ca89ySFGUiBzXfXeze Is this the correct one? And this is only thing i need? No other "things" connected to the sensor or something? I do have the wiring.
