Hi Guys,

First post here, I frequent these forums quite alot, sponging info on one of the greatest series of cars in the world, which I also happen to own much like most of you here.

I used to have a 180SX and since getting my 'line, haven't looked back (but who doesn't miss their RWD Turbo Nissan eh?)

Now I've got a R33 GTS25t with

Apexi Pod

Catback Exhaust

Trust Type RS copy Atmospheric Blow-off Valve

and R32 Boost Actuator (Best mod i've done so far :P)

Next mods on the list are an R34 GTT intercooler (decided against front mount) and R34 GTT Turbo :P in my quest for a fast, daily driven street car. I'm going to mod my car as much as I can within the limits of DOING IT MYSELF.

I hear GTT turbos are an improvement over the 25t turbo, but still have the nylon shaft and ceramic turbine as the R33.

However, S15's come factory with steel turbo components AFAIK.

From what I know, S15 SR and Skyline RB turbos are both T28s

so what I'd like to know is are the S15 turbo components (shaft and turbine) able to be swapped into an R34 GTT turbos compressor and turbine housing to make the turbo that Nissan should've fitted to Skylines from the factory?

Any help at all will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hey there! Welcome to the skyline world, nice mods by the way! Buddy the skyline r33 series II turbo's are made out of nylon and yes they are weaker than the 34 turbo's but the 34 turbos are still stronger. The r33 turbo's are a T3 there a bit bigger than the T28s but the T28's internals can be fitted if you modify it. My stock r33 turbo has been highflowed with a ATR28G2 profile with 71mm compressor. Runs very good also pulls harder to .

Thanks,

Geraus.

You might be able to get it in... but for what?

You've gotta pay for a full balance and so on for the turbo anyhow.

So you'd be better off sitting larger wheels and getting machining done for a minor additional cost IMO :ermm:

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
