I lent my car to a mate for about a wheel (whilst he was building his 86) and ti came back with 2 massive dents in the drivers door. The bastard didn't even offer to help fix it or even say sorry!!!

Hope he isn't your mate any more

The guy looked around, saw a bunch of people watching, wrote a note, and placed it under the windscreen wiper.

As the guy drove off, my Uncle went and had a look at the note and saw that it was blank.

What a scumbag! Hope he got what he deserved.

I parked my old car in front of my house all the time... and then one day I woke up to see the number plates stolen. Not happy - about 3 hours late for work that day.

It's a quiet neighbourhood with decent people, so it must've been some lowlife cruising the streets in a hot car to pick up some plates to exchange. The plates were just normal plates, but it was a pain in the ass to get new ones.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but does anyone know what happens if your custom plates are stolen? I heard you can't get them back again, but that doesn't sound right to me.

This was discussed on the Evo forum recently. Personalised plates can be replaced but it appears normal ones aren't (that was the conclusion reached). Logically, if you pay $400-$500 for custom plates, someone then pinches them, why should you be penalised for their actions. Standard issue $30 plates though, just replaced with standard issue ones I believe.

About a year ago, it was 10pm, i was parked at a lookout in the parking. I had a black Honda integra.

A white holden commodore, was reversing, straight in to the back of me. As he hit me, i started up the car, having a bad gut feeling that he would do a runner.

He sat there for about 4 seconds before deciding to gun it. I reversed, went after him...

Eventually cought up to him on the freeway, i flashed my lights a number of times but he wouldnt pull over. Thinking i had all the evidence i need i went to cop shop.

I explained what happend and told the copper that i wanted press charges because the person did a runner and failed to stop to exchange details.

Another officer examined his car and because there was "no damage" there was nothign i could do. I was left with a hole in my bumper bar (body kit), had his details, had everything and couldnt do nothning....Whatta fair world.

On the other hand if i knew that i wasnt gonna get anyway with cops, i would have chased him down in his pissy commodore and belted the asshole.

Was the cop blind? "No damange?" wtf? Yes... the hole in your bumper is a.. brake cooling duct.

when i first got my 33 i had had it for a week and i was parked outside a mates house for 30min and came out to see the driver side with a nice red spray paint stripe all down the side,at first i though some1 didnt like me much until i drove up the street and noticed another half a dozen cars with the same stripe, turns out the bastards sprayed 30 cars in my area,i was lucky enough to take my car straight to a detailer who removed it all free of charge what a champion,he also said if i had left the paint on there for to long i would of needed a respray

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
