i believe that's compressor surge sound, not nice.

no need for the BOV anyway, ditch it. for your power levels, and most people's, it's useless.

haha yeh id ditch it if it had a problem, bought the car with it on there. Guess it still doesnt solve the problem of the surge while on boost. Wrong turbo for my engine I guess.

BOV's have caused many a problem in the past, and will continue to do so.

At least whilst you're trying to figure it out, it's one extra thing to tick off the list. Get rid of the BOV and put a stock one back on

yeh will do, is there any particular trick to putting stock back on or is it relatively basic?

i can't imagine they'd be much $$, check the for sale section, i reckon you could pick one up for cheap-as-chups - people probably don't even think about selling them

I think youd be suprised on how fast they get taken. Tried a few wreckers yesterday and to no prevail. They all got non turbo 34's in and thats all :woot: can you use r33 gtr or 32 gtr BOV??? any modifications required

Dyno charts are in as attached. It seems that nothing is wrong with my car the turbo just doesnt suit the engine. The car started a day or two ago with the VCT playing up which was eventually all soughted out. Everything on the car was checked from head to toe, compression checks, boost leak checks, the whole lot and the car passed everyhting. We even tried a manual boost tea instead of the AVCR and it made no difference.

The car ended up making another 40hp on the last tune reaching 206rwkws :S and 1200Lb of torque. The car would ping anywhere over 13 degrees of timing and the power curves on the dyno charts are as good as they can physically get. U can see on the chart where the compressor surge is hitting, killing boost, torque and the whole lot. Top dotted lines are boost readings.

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
