Hey All,

I just picked up this Gearbox - its a bit of an unknown in terms of condition....they guy I got it from, bought it for $100 from some guy who was clearing out his shed, but said it was ok. Anyway, Im just wondering what box it is...Can anybody tell me how to properly identify it ?...or does anyone recognise what box it is ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers All

Woza

Looks like an RB25 type (R33 GTSt). $100 is a bargain, although depends on internal condition, of course.

Yeah thought it looked like my RB25DET gearbox, however to be more sepecific, I was wondering if there is a difference between RB25DE gearboxes and RB25DET gearboxes....

+1 for 25T box.

$100 is a fkn bargain.

Hey Bubba.....he paid $100 for it....I got it for free LOL. No idea what condition its in though......the shafts turn with no horrible feel or sounds but Im gonna pay my gearbox dude $100 to separate the halves and make sure nothing is broken. Either way, it will be a good spare for my 260Z project (Rb25DET engine & box), or at the very least, I can rape it for spares !

Im stoked.....

Even better!

My 25T box cost me $1500 from a wreckers and there was no guarantee with that.. good thing it works fine! only drama is 2nd gear is a little notchy when cold but she'll be right!

P.S. nice engine bay! I miss my 32 already

Yeah thats the problem with buying boxes....you never really know.......Im still not sure what the engine & box are like as I havent driven it yet...fingers crossed. Thx for the comments dude

No probs and good luck ;)

I had some butterflies when I backed out of the workshop for the first time after putting the 25T box in.. then painted some big lines and it was all good so I was happy :D

Mate of mine got a box for his GTS4, we got it to the shop to find it was full of water and the input shaft wouldn't budge  cleaned it out, threw it in and it's still going strong behind a 530awhp 3L ;)

Luck of the draw I guess it all boils down to!

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
