Ebay Carputer

Recommended Posts

this was the first item I had installed into my 35.....and it is simply fantastic for the price.

Infact, I got 2 of them, one for my brother's R34....some 3 months ago now.

The telephone, radio, DVD and GPS functions are great....so too the seperate SD card reader/player.

The TV is an absolute joke!...not worried about that too much.

So far..both unit's are fine....but can get glitchy if the GPS unit is not completely turned off prior to ignition off. ie. (keys out)...I've found.

A simple soft re-set gets them going properly again.

Their 'build quality' is akin to something you'd win from a 'shootem-up' gallery at the circus.......So only time will really tell.

so far so good!....best 440 buh I ever spent on car entertainment....(yep, u can get them even cheaper than that).

If it breaks after a year, I'll get another one.

Just my 3 cents.

Interesting split view =)

I'd agree with Chris Rogers, only in that he clearly knows his electronics.

In saying that, im IT minded so i tend to go for more robust systems and technical knowledge.

In saying THAT, i don't disregard superspit's input! =/

What a dilemma you have!

Chris are all those no brand double din systems on ebay garbage? Is that the reason you say dont bother?

pretty much. the transports die in them, lasers die suddenly. drop down faces get stuck. software hangs and thats the $300 ones.

I get emails from shenzen (china) offering me these things for $150USD all day long. those go into the bin. I see them as junk and as such after fitting several and having to pull several back out I quit fitting them.

if you are into pulling your car apart in 6 weeks -> 6 months go for it. myself I prefer to put things in once.

    • Sorry for typo - it’s a VQ37 engine not VQ36.
    • On a 260RS? Don't they have Macpherson struts at the front like a Silvia? In which case, no, not 2 ball joints at the front. Only the lower one. (Unless when you say 2, you mean one on the left and one on the right, not 2 at each corner of the car). Skyline front suspension has a balljoint at the bottom of the upright (outer end of LCA) and a "kingpin" type upper bearing in the top of the upright. No upper balljoint either. The details of what happens above that differ between R32 and the R33/4. I think you should look at some pictures of the rear suspension (or just go take a wheel off your own car) and see what looks like it might or might not be a ball joint there. The situation at the rear is somewhat similar to the front. Lower ball joint and the motion at the top is taken care of by the bushes in the arms.
