Inner West Crew Whoretown (toowong/st Lucia/kenmore/indooroopilly And Sometimes Sunnybank?)

Dish man, is just a term for what some wheels have when the spoke doesn't protrude to the edge of the mag. For example. An XD9 Work rims has dish...and XT7 work rim does not. even though they can be gotten in the same size....dish is just a wank term used to discribed the flat surface between the spoke and the edge of the wheel.

Yea I know what dish is but someone was always going on about dish when the offset was mention without considering the model/design of the rim itself. The fact that he's probably better in mechanics than I am, confuses me when my own understanding. So what I originally thought was right. Between +22 and +15 with same design/size, the +15 will appear to have more dish because its closer to the centre of the hub. The only way of having more real dish for them is to get bigger width size.

Dan I saw your wheels the other day and in the flesh they are good, even Noel liked em! l If its gonna be chrome it might as well be volk!

My rims are Volk GT-AV - 19" x 8.5F, 9.5R not sure what the offsets are though the back fits perfect with f**k all camber and the front are about 10mm inside the gaurds

GT-AVs are 2 piece, I am not sure how/if they can be widened

Harrys good to just check cars out and chill/dinner... not really the chill all night kinda thing. I thought of heading there since I'm around the area + gotta pick the wife up after work... HAHAHA!

Anyone heading to freedom tonight? I dont mind giving the car a quick wash. Speaking of which, where GABNR?

Yea they look a lot better in real life comparing to photos. I'm jealous of the lowering ;)

I guess I'll have to live with the 4WD till the end of next yr.

Pretty good price and looks good too!

:)

Found out from a mate that there's a guy in briz vegas that chops rims an makes em wider . . . Anyone knw about this ?

Generally multi piece rims can be widened by taking them apart and putting in a wider centre hoop or whatever its called. I've never heard of anybody chopping and rewelding a rim back together. I doubt you would be able to do that without causing some serious issues with the strength of the wheel.

Still dodgy. It'll be even worse if you have a high powered car. Anything thats broken (intentionally or unintentionally) will not be as strong which is why 1piece forged rims are so exp.

Tris: guess what? I'm an idiot again, seems like always managed to go on the wrong channel all the time. I thought you were referring to the offset when you said 7... HAHAHA. Yes, 7" wide is fail. Fit maybe 205? I wish mine were like colin's 10.5 :(

1 piece rims are more expensive because of the way they are made. Pressing the material into the shape of the rim means they use less material but it is denser so you get stronger and lighter wheels. 2 or 3 piece wheels can still be as strong but they will be heavier.

What are they anyway?

Back on those pic, yea I sorta figured out the difference between positive and negative offsets but I remembered someone told me its related to dish. Say if you've got +22 and +15 on the same wide and size rim, the +22 will have more dish and this is what confuses me. What I understand from looking at those cross sectional diagrams is the offset's got nothing to do with the dish size, its the width and rim design that dictates it. What offset does is determine how much your wheels will stick out or in from the hub.

Thats it.

XT7 FTW :)

Pfft. XD9 ftw :P

Yeah Im not a fan (got none on mine) but it is hard to find wheels that fit perfect

Its more difficult when you're buying them second hand. If you order them new you can just specify what offsets you want. ;)

Will be going the car wash ;)

Didn't you buy the Tein Super Streets? Can't you adjust them further?

Dish is determined less by offset and more by brake clearance. Most quality rims are available in 3 different clearance sizes to allow for varying size of brakes.

2 rims same offset can have varying amounts of dish as a result of different "disc" size as it is called.

It is a factor in rim purchase that many have neglected to their dismay when they find their new wheels wont clear their brembo's etc.

;) thanks man

Haha dont worry man youl get there :)

XD9 = too many spokes and too many teenagers telling you you have sik dish mang, I once had sick dish and wanted to kill myself after about 3 weeks of cleaning teenager Jizz off of the wheels lol

BAHAHAHA

You can weld STEEL wheels.. yes. I've done standard Nissan alloys to run SICKS ONLY - NO STREET USE.

I'd question welding an alloy for street use.. It can be done though.

The best is just buying new outter or inner shells/bands/barrels if you have a multi pce rim

And old man Jizz. Those things looked pron ;)

Only queers have less than 10 spokes.. ;)

I love the bum, but only your sisters!

Driving tonight?

You can still do that?

Didn't you buy the Tein Super Streets? Can't you adjust them further?

Hahaha, only if you pay for them. I'm running stockies now! My sis' wedding next year raped my bank account. So yea, gotta live with it until later next year.

What time are you heading there? I'll probably be free after dropping the missus home around 9:30ish. Anyone else coming??

Noel: Which is why Rays' are good. They have the list of offset/size/fitment online! I dont know how can anyone got the wrong model for their car from Ray. Researching does help and I find that list they have is pretty much all you need. Like you've said, they have disc type too which applies to GT-Cs. Same size same offset but wrong disc will f**k your brembos or any big brakes.

the old man Jizz was the worst part

no actually it was that the car had a wicked paintjob, made 400hp at the wheels but it was the cheapshit wheels that were by far the worst part of the car that got every one excited ;)

Hahaha. A lot were excited on boost.

    • Fark what are the changes of that snapping like that, clean. Nek minnit, custom radiator goes in, with built in oil cooler like those discontinued PWR ones from yesterdeacades ago
    • I thought I'd do a write up on an auto transmission fluid change for a the nissan 7 speed Automatic. At some stage the genius engineers decided that the fluid in the trans was "for the life of the transmission", (which seems kind of self supporting to me) and removed the dip stick and fill tube (funnily enough there is still a casting for it). Anyway, for this job you do need 2 specialist tools in addition to regular hand tools, jack and good chassis stands. You need a way to pump fluid up to the transmission; I got one of these but there are plenty of other options: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364584087070 Don't trust the generic listing though, it does not come with the required adapter for the Nissan 7 Speed. You need one of these, can't do the job without it: https://navarapart.com.au/product/genuine-nissan-patrol-y62-d23-np300-navara-re7-dipstick-fill-connector1 You need a heap of compatible transmission oil. Could be Nissan, could be anything else rated for Nissan Matic S. You need at least 10 litres, I had 15 to give it a better flush... Also, you need some biiig oil catch trays, at least one of these, or bigger if possible (volume was fine, size was very marginal): https://autobarn.com.au/ab/Autobarn-Category/Tools-%26-Garage/Specialty-Tools/Oil-Service/Garage-Tough-Oil-Drain-Pan-Black-16L---GT1068/p/TO03191 Finally, a measuring jug is very useful if your pump does not have volumes marked on it, I got a 6l one: https://www.repco.com.au/oils-fluids/fluid-accessories/measuring-jugs/penrite-measuring-jug-6l-pmj006/p/A5322648 Oh, and gloves.....this stuff is horrible (not as bad as diff oil, but getting there) ....First, jack up your car.....
    • So I mentioned the apprentice, @LachyK helped take the bonnet off. We just undid the nuts on the hinges and unclipped the gas struts, then pulled the bonnet back a little as the front was catching on the front bar.  I had a good look at everything today and have removed the rams, repaired/reset the hinges and bolted it back together like it never happened. I'll do a separate write up on the repair, and I also removed the poppers from the Fuga today too to save grief down the road.....as said above it is at least $5k to repair retail. I'm also happier about my ability to prepare a race car, and less happy about Nis-nault's engineering (I can hear @GTSBoy sAfrican Americaning) because the top hose of the radiator didn't slip off.......it snapped clean off. By practice I put the hose clamp hard up against the flare on a neck to make it least likely to ever move (thanks @Neil!). I guess that puts a little more pressure on the end of the pipe as it is further away from the rad, but still, that is pretty shit. I've put it back on for now as there was a fair bit of neck still there, but obviously there is no lip on the neck any more so I don't think I'll track it again until I have a new rad. Speaking of which....more research required. It looks like Koyo makes a standard size radiator in ally which I'll grab in the meantime, but I really want something thicker so might have to go custom in the medium term (ouch) Coolant still needs a refill and I have the pressure tester on it over night, but other than a wash down of the engine bay it seems alright. And @MBS206 noted something noisy on the front of the engine and I think I agree....time for a new accessory belt and tensioners I think.
    • our good friends at nismo make a diff for it, I have one (and a spare housing to put the centre in) on the way. https://www.nismo.co.jp/products/web_catalogue/lsd/mechanical_lsd_v37.html AMS also make a helical one, but I prefer mechanical for track use in 2wd (I do run a quaife in the front, but not rear of the R32)
