Shit! did it just came off because it wasnt tighten? I got that once and was blowing black smoke all the way back home... (lucky for me its only a few kms away).

Yeah I was blowing black smoke while pulled over, couldn't even get it to move, it was idling around 200 and sputtering.

It was tight as anything, I just installed my pod cover a month ago and tightened and rechecked all the piping connections... when it popped off today I'd been pushing it reallllllly hard for the previous half hour or so, out bush on mountain roads hahaha. I'm thinking maybe some new clamps would be a good idea before I head out there again.

yea... clamps or have an extra cover over it. I've seen some that got wrapped up in black rubber stuff with clamps on both ends. If you include the original pipe clamps thats 3 in total!

What happened???

I think my thermostat isn't working :) Temp on the dash board said it was ok but when it was cool it took two litres of water in the radiator. Fouled up one of the plugs and was only running on 5 cylinders. A hose on the intake was split and sucked a bunch of sh_t into the throttle body. Fun fun fun... considering I only just got it serviced not that long ago

Seems to be ok now. Keep my fingers crossed and everything else too :(

Sup all. Heads up for anyone that was planning on coming down to visit today I probably won't be home till 4ish have to do another run back home to pick up some shit that got left behind yesterday. I'm keeping my license till the 14th though so we can do a final cruise

/housewarming next weekend? I'll probably head down the spit this afternoon though for anyone who is interested.

Jeez, I thought I had a bad time sitting on a highway service road for half an hour finding my problem..... Jason it sounds like you're having a LOT more fun than me :)

Sorry to hear mate... got everything going good now though yeah?

+1 for next weekend. But keep in mind of the drag day on Saturday!

Didnt vspec said he was gonna organize a photo shoot next Sunday after he got his car repainted? Any news?

Cleaned the plug it was all fouled up. Started it up and idled ok. You go to the hamilton pub ? Im sure I've seen your car parked there a couple of times.

Not looking forward to the drive to toowoomba to drop my daughter off. If anyone is going that way around 3 i'll be leaving ipswich then so if you see me broked down... can you give me a lift ?

Not sure if i can come yet but are any of you guys heading out to the drag arvo convoy style .....

You can organize 1. I'll probably be heading there with john and adam if he's coming at all

    • I saw you mention this earlier and it raised a red flag, but I couldn't believe it was real. Yes, the vacuum signal should vary. It is the one and only load signal from the engine to the ECU, and it MUST vary. It is either not connected or is badly f**ked up in some way.
    • @Haggerty you still haven't answered my question.  Many things you are saying do not make sense for someone who can tune, yet I would not expect someone who cannot tune to be playing with the things in the ECU that you are.  This process would be a lot quicker to figure out if we can remove user error from the equation.
    • If as it's stalling, the fuel pressure rises, it's saying there's less vacuum in the intake manifold. This is pretty typical of an engine that is slowing down.   While typically is agree it sounds fuel related, it really sounds fuel/air mixture related. Since the whole system has been refurbished, including injectors, pump, etc, it's likely we've altered how well the system is delivering fuel. If someone before you has messed with the IACV because it needed fiddling with as the fuel system was dieing out, we need to readjust it back. Getting things back to factory spec everywhere, is what's going to help the entire system. So if it idles at 400rpm with no IACV, that needs raising. Getting factory air flow back to normal will help us get everything back in spec, and likely help chase down any other issues. Back on IACV, if the base idle (no IACV plugged in) is too far out, it's a lot harder for the ECU to control idle. The IACV duty cycle causes non linear variations in reality. When I've tuned the idle valves in the past, you need to keep it in a relatively narrow window on aftermarket ecus to stop them doing wild dances. It also means if your base idle is too low, the valve needs to open too much, and then the smallest % change ends up being a huge variation.
    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
