Inner West Crew Whoretown (toowong/st Lucia/kenmore/indooroopilly And Sometimes Sunnybank?)

Recommended Posts

Because whoretown is full of people posting to get their counts up, or random posts unrelated to the one ahead of it. This thread isn't just 'our area' it's 'our group' with the occasional visitor. This thread is where we comminicate with each other on a daily basis. To have to wade through twice as much crap, from people we don't know, would just make it frustrating trying to keep up with the conversation we're trying to have with our friends.

Merging the two threads is completely pointless, and if you look harder, you'll see it's actually a foolish idea because the two threads are very very different. Whoretown is just a pointless thread for whoring, and it's nothing special and going nowhere big.

This thread actually does still follow it's theme. If you read every page in this thread like most of us have. You'll see that even though it's not all 'west' the other people that post here do come and visit us regularly in the western suburbs. A couple of us are from the north, but we go every week to hang out. A few of us are from south, or deep south, but meet up every week. Those of us who don't go every week at least have gone, or have strong ties to the group and this thread.

This thread may seem like a pointless whore thread, but it's not pointless whoring to us. To us it's having fun with our group or crew or whatever you'd like to call it. We trouble shoot in here, offer each other advice, jibe each other, etc... just like we do in person. In essence this thread is an extension of our meets, not just a 'random thread'.

If you close this thread or merge it, then I feel every other thread in 'events' or any thread even hinting at a meet or cruise or whatever, should also be merged into whoretown.

Spoken like a true mang. If I ever need a complaint letter written for something I'm contacting you!!!!

as s brothel with a lot of whores in it.

I thought anal was banned from brothels :)

All fair points (well, maybe except for the last one but I'll get to that in a sec), though what you've described is really what whoretown is meant to be as well. A bit of banter and a chat, some helpful, some taking friendly shots at each other, a bit of trash talk, organising to go around and swap out another blown ceramic turbo at Joe Bloggs' place, whatever. People had their own little groups but also interacted with the larger Qld community too.

If something happens on the north side, do they then (theoretically) need to come into the inner west, southside, bayside and CBD threads to let them all know the story? It's not the same as the state separation due to the distances involved. Separate event threads are completely different, they're referring to individual events so merging them together would be pointless. The focus on them is on the event, not on the location of the people.

People who have been around (like Joshwa :) ) would remember when whoretown was a lot like this thread is, just covering a much wider geographical area. And there's no reason it can't be like that again. The meaningless count-increasing posts aren't normally welcome in whoretown but because it's been so dead we've let it slide in the hopes that it might encourage some life back into the thread. I'll hazard a guess and say that one of the reasons it's so dead in whoretown is because this thread has taken most of its traffic lol.

I'm not saying that this thread is pointless, because it's clearly not. There is a lot of value in the community building that this kind of thing can help along. All I'm saying is that it makes sense to build that community in the thread that was designed for that purpose and doesn't, by its title, exclude most of the state.

Well if that's what whoretown is meant to be, then it always will be, no matter if there's 2 or 200 people posting in there. Unless people have no interest in it because it's too damn big, and too damn random.

Something like what? What is so important that they need to post it in this thread as well as the thread they put it in? The only reason I can see something like that happening is when someone is so excited they're pissing their pants and want as many people to see their story as possible. Those are people I like to call attention whores. I don't care what happens at bayside, because I don't live there, but if I'm bored and want to read their thread I can. I don't care what happens on the south side, but if I'm bored and want to read their.... well you get the picture. If I'm bored and WANT TO. Not "I want to talk to my friends first, then look at the rest of the forum later... oh crap. 400 posts in the one thread today because someone brought it back to life" 20 pages later, having found the 25 posts from this group and wading through what would feel like exabytes of information that I have no interest in... the thread would start to lose it's appeal. I'm sure others would agree that if they have to wade through more posts that don't interest them, just to find the handful that do, one of three things would happen.

1. Another thread would be born so that people wouldn't have to suffer through whoretown.

2. People would just stop posting in there, and whoretown would die again.

3. There'd be a massive bitch fight. Bigger than the ones with that Alex bloke. And I can promise you, I'll not be sitting on the sidelines for that. I'll be in there quoting and debating my ass off, copping abuse, hurling abuse, insulting people, their mothers, their pets, whatever seems good at the time. And so far I'm batting 2 for 2 on argument threads getting closed. That's a big thread to close. And it's an even bigger thread to try and delete lots of posts from if a shit fight breaks out.

Separate event threads are completely different, they're referring to individual events so merging them together would be pointless. The focus on them is on the event, not on the location of the people.

THIS THREAD as I said, is an extension of our meet. Read the first post on the first page. That's still what this thread is all about. So why doesn't it deserve the right to stay seperate? Because it's 600 pages long? Or just because? It's not just pointless whoring as I've also said. This thread still serves it's original intended purpose.

Or maybe it was always dead, and everyone was waiting for a new thread that was of relevance to them to come out of it. A phoenix if you will.

I'm not saying that this thread is pointless, because it's clearly not. There is a lot of value in the community building that this kind of thing can help along. All I'm saying is that it makes sense to build that community in the thread that was designed for that purpose and doesn't, by its title, exclude most of the state.

No one is being excluded from the thread or from the meet ups. And some people were smart enough to open this thread anyway even though they're not from the west. Strangely a lot of those people are a part of this thread now. We always get new face pop up in here too. A lot of people simply check out this thread because of it's size. If people are too stuck up/lazy/scared to open a thread and check it out for 5 mins and see if it's for them, then they're not a very good part of the community anyway, and would probably always be complaining about needing to change their tampon.

If you really think the title is a problem, change it. But we vote on what it changes to. Not some stupid "Whoretwon MkII" kind of title. It has to include it's original element as well as a new one to show the tampon squad that we're not that mean and elite.

    • You won't need to do that if your happy to learn to tune it yourself. You 100% do not need to do that. It is not part of the learning process. It's not like driving on track and 'finding the limit by stepping over the limit'. You should not ever accidently blow up an engine and you should have setup the ECU's engine protection to save you from yourself while you are learning anyway. Plenty of us have tuned their own cars, myself included. We still come here for advice/guidance/new ideas etc.  What have you been doing so far to learn how to tune?
    • Put the ECU's MAP line in your mouth. Blow as hard as you can. You should be able to see about 10 kPa, maybe 15 kPa positive pressure. Suck on it. You should be able to generate a decent vacuum to about the same level also. Note that this is only ~2 psi either way. If the MAP is reading -5 psi all the time, ignition on, engine running or not, driving around or not, then it is severely f**ked. Also, you SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING IT WITHOUT A LOAD REFERENCE. You will break the engine. Badly.
    • Could be correct. Meter might be that far out. Compare against a known 5 ohm 1% resistor.
    • @Murray_Calavera  If I were an expert I wouldn't be in here looking for assistance.  I am extremely computer literate, have above average understanding on how things should be working and how they should tie together.  If I need to go to a professional tuner so be it, but I'd much rather learn and do things myself even if it means looking for some guidance along the way and blowing up a few engines. @GTSBoy  I was hoping it would be as simple as a large vacuum leak somewhere but I'm unable to find anything, all lines seem to be well capped or going where they need to be, and when removed there is vacuum felt on the tube.  It would be odd for the Haltech built in MAP to be faulty, the GTT tune I imported had it enabled from the start, I incorrectly assumed it was reading a signal from the stock MAP, but that doesn't exist.  After running a vacuum hose to the ECU the signal doesn't change more than 0.2 in either direction.   I'll probably upload a video of my settings tomorrow, as it stands I'm able to daily drive, but getting stuttering when giving it gas from idle, so pulling away from lights is a slow process of revving it up and feathering the clutch until its moving, then it will accelerate fine.  It sounds like I need to get to the bottom of the manifold pressure issue, but the ignition timing section is most intimidating to me and will probably let a pro do that part.  Tomorrow I'll try a different vacuum line to T off of, with any luck I selected one that was already bypassed during the DBW swap.  (edit: I went out and did it right now, the line I had chosen did appear to have no vacuum on it, it used to go to the front of the intake, I've now completely blocked that one off at the bracket that holds several vacuum lines by the firewall.  I T'd into the vacuum line that goes from that bracket to the vacuum pump at the front of the car, but no change in the MAP readings).  Using the new vacuum line that has obvious vacuum on the hose, im still only getting readings between -6.0 and -5.2.  I'm wondering why the ECU was detecting -5.3 when nothing was connected to the MAP nipple and ECU MAP selected as the source. @feartherb26  I do have +T in the works but wanted to wait until Spring to start with that swap since this is my good winter AWD vehicle.  When removing the butterfly, did it leave a bunch of holes in the manifold that you needed to plug?  I thought about removing it but assumed it would be a mess.   I notice no difference when capping the vacuum line to it or letting it do its thing.  This whole thing has convinced me to just get a forward facing manifold when the time comes though.
    • Update: tested my spark plugs that are supposed to be 5ohms with a 10% deviation and one gave me a 0 ohms reading and the rest were 3.9ohm<, so one bad and the others on their way out.
