Inner West Crew Whoretown (toowong/st Lucia/kenmore/indooroopilly And Sometimes Sunnybank?)

Recommended Posts

Heh the multi-quoting is starting to get fairly decent :)

Well if that's what whoretown is meant to be, then it always will be, no matter if there's 2 or 200 people posting in there. Unless people have no interest in it because it's too damn big, and too damn random.
Not when people simply aren't posting in it. A night club is still a night club if there are 2 or 200 people there... but which is better? Which would you maybe check out briefly, then leave?
Something like what? What is so important that they need to post it in this thread as well as the thread they put it in? The only reason I can see something like that happening is when someone is so excited they're pissing their pants and want as many people to see their story as possible. Those are people I like to call attention whores. I don't care what happens at bayside, because I don't live there, but if I'm bored and want to read their thread I can. I don't care what happens on the south side, but if I'm bored and want to read their.... well you get the picture. If I'm bored and WANT TO. Not "I want to talk to my friends first, then look at the rest of the forum later... oh crap. 400 posts in the one thread today because someone brought it back to life" 20 pages later, having found the 25 posts from this group and wading through what would feel like exabytes of information that I have no interest in... the thread would start to lose it's appeal. I'm sure others would agree that if they have to wade through more posts that don't interest them, just to find the handful that do, one of three things would happen.

1. Another thread would be born so that people wouldn't have to suffer through whoretown.

2. People would just stop posting in there, and whoretown would die again.

3. There'd be a massive bitch fight. Bigger than the ones with that Alex bloke. And I can promise you, I'll not be sitting on the sidelines for that. I'll be in there quoting and debating my ass off, copping abuse, hurling abuse, insulting people, their mothers, their pets, whatever seems good at the time. And so far I'm batting 2 for 2 on argument threads getting closed. That's a big thread to close. And it's an even bigger thread to try and delete lots of posts from if a shit fight breaks out.

Why should people have to check threads from other areas and wade through pages of whoring to see if there's anything happening that they might have otherwise travelled to the area for? The thread itself and the regular meet isn't what I'm getting at, that in itself is fine (but if that's the case it technically should go into the events section, just to open another can of worms lol), it's the whoring. As I've said I don't have a problem with post whoring, I used to be in whoretown myself a fair bit because that's the appropriate place for it.

There used to be some HUGE bitchfights in whoretown, but that was part of its appeal :woot: Anyway as you pretty much said yourself earlier, it would be what you make it.

THIS THREAD as I said, is an extension of our meet. Read the first post on the first page. That's still what this thread is all about. So why doesn't it deserve the right to stay seperate? Because it's 600 pages long? Or just because? It's not just pointless whoring as I've also said. This thread still serves it's original intended purpose.
It's *not* an extension of the meet. It's whoring by people who attend the meet, but the posts are otherwise unrelated to the meet itself.

In the last handful of posts we've had bourbon, broken phones, cricket, internet censorship, cost of cars overseas (my bad :D ) and actually nothing whatsoever to do with the original meets other than mentioning it as justification for the thread's existence.

Or maybe it was always dead, and everyone was waiting for a new thread that was of relevance to them to come out of it. A phoenix if you will.
I can assure you that it had been alive and well for quite some time, and the current whoretown is certainly not the first one (the earlier ones were archived off due to performance issues with large threads on older versions of IPB).

There were a few dramas in the Qld section a while ago which killed the activity, it hasn't fully recovered from that. That is why there is a lack of activity here, and that is what I'm hoping we can reverse... to some extent at least.

No one is being excluded from the thread or from the meet ups. And some people were smart enough to open this thread anyway even though they're not from the west. Strangely a lot of those people are a part of this thread now. We always get new face pop up in here too. A lot of people simply check out this thread because of it's size. If people are too stuck up/lazy/scared to open a thread and check it out for 5 mins and see if it's for them, then they're not a very good part of the community anyway, and would probably always be complaining about needing to change their tampon.
I know people aren't being actively excluded, but if you're from somewhere that's not on the west side it's entirely conceivable that you might look at the title and think "hmm that'll be irrelevant to me", not open it, and miss out on what's in here. That's nothing to do with someone being a sook, it's just the way it is, why check something out that's completely irrelevant?

On the flipside, I dare say a lot of the people who are here and checked it out because of its size, did so because they were looking for a chat/whore thread...

Read your descriptions of it again... does this sound more like a casual chat thread, or a thread discussing a specific meet?

If you really think the title is a problem, change it. But we vote on what it changes to. Not some stupid "Whoretwon MkII" kind of title. It has to include it's original element as well as a new one to show the tampon squad that we're not that mean and elite.
The thread doesn't need to go and the title doesn't need to change. If either were the case I would have done it ages ago.

I have no problem with the thread existing per se, I'm just suggesting that the whoring (and that's what it is, as already mentioned) go into whoretown. It's a more appropriate place for it, the activity in whoretown would likely be more beneficial than it is in here, and if anyone is interested in actually coming to the regular meets they don't have to wade through pages of people talking about phones and cricket to find the relevant info, who is going etc, which sounds very much like the reason you gave for whoretown being A Bad Thing.

Give it a go, it's not that bad :)

john just mix with what you got.

my rules only stop when it comes down to flavoured milk and spirits.

have even tried beer and spirits before, not too bad

Not when people simply aren't posting in it. A night club is still a night club if there are 2 or 200 people there... but which is better? Which would you maybe check out briefly, then leave?

The one with 200 people. I'd leave that bitch like a rocket.

A nightclub with 2 people is somthing I'd love. No line up for the bar, no line up for the can, plenty of seats. Even cooler if it was a club with a live band, because then you could sit/stand anywhere and see. That sounds like the most awesome nightclub in the history of nightclubs. It's one even I'd go to. I normally don't go to clubs because I hate people and wish death upon many of them.

Why should people have to check threads from other areas and wade through pages of whoring to see if there's anything happening that they might have otherwise travelled to the area for?

I don't quite understand this question... but people don't HAVE to check anything. But those who do take 5 mins to check something seemingly unrelated to them, then at least have the option.

When the Charity Cruise thread opened up for this years cruise I looked at it and though "Pffft... charity" but I read it anyway, and wound up going.

It seemed totally pointless and irrelevant and unrelated to me, but I spent 5 mins and looked anyway, and went. And will probably go again next year.

No one MADE me do it, and I didn't HAVE to do it. I simply chose to look at something that I would normally shrug off. And you know what? If I'd missed out, I'd have no one to blame but myself. 5 mins isn't a long time. If people can't spare it to have a look at something, then they probably are too busy/important to come to a meet anyway.

You could move it to the events section. But we won't stop posting in it. And then it'd be a thread no one else can keep track of and wondering why it's in meets and think it's a whore thread etc etc.

There used to be some HUGE bitchfights in whoretown, but that was part of its appeal :) Anyway as you pretty much said yourself earlier, it would be what you make it.

I always miss the fun stuff :)

It's *not* an extension of the meet. It's whoring by people who attend the meet, but the posts are otherwise unrelated to the meet itself.

Actually it is. And the posts are related. Usually the posts will be about something that happened or was said at the meet, or many posts/happenings will be spoken about at the meet. And it's not just ONE meet. In this thread we organise other meets, like the Pommie's house warming (which never took place... but still) and others. Some of those meets we have as 'ideas' at our weekly meet, and then nut out the details in here. There is a LOT in this thread that's meet related.

In the last handful of posts we've had bourbon, broken phones, cricket, internet censorship, cost of cars overseas (my bad :woot: ) and actually nothing whatsoever to do with the original meets other than mentioning it as justification for the thread's existence.

And if you are there tomorrow, you'd hear us talk about how crazy the prices of those cars were, the internet thingy, the government will get bitched about some more, we'll find out if Miso ever got any bourbon, see who's phone's are still PF, and the limp wrists will talk about the cricket :D;)

It's not JUST about the ORIGINAL meet. It's about an ongoing saga of meets and spinoff spectacular showcases and all that fun stuff. And those who are willing to read and contribute to this thread can learn all about it and join in :)

Lots of posts does NOT mean alive and well. For all you know 80% of the people in there were posting simply because it was THE place to post. Once something else opened up and there was a choice... well... we see what way that choice went.

True, it's possible. But I live north side. I opened it. I made a choice to spend 5 mins of my time and check. Wound up reading the whole thread from start to finish, then joined the forum and started posting.

So I don't see why someone else can't spend a little time and effort checking things out. Some threads on here are toally LOL worthy, but you wouldn't know from the titles. It never hurts to check. Some people don't get that though... it's like if it doesn't ultimately and immediately benefit them, then there's no point in it. Those people miss out because of their greed and impatience.

*QUOTE LIMIT*

On the flipside, I dare say a lot of the people who are here and checked it out because of its size, did so because they were looking for a chat/whore thread...

Some stayed. Some left. Some visit occasionally. I see no problem with that.

Read your descriptions of it again... does this sound more like a casual chat thread, or a thread discussing a specific meet?

I know my description, I don't need to read it again. It's an EXTENSION OF THE MEET. Therefore it is both things, casual chat, and discussion of a specific meet. On top of that it's also a thread for arranging additional meets, it's also a tech thread, it's also a troubleshooting thread, etc, etc, etc. All the extras and etceteras ultimately tie into each week's meet (or other meets). This thread is discussed at EVERY meet.

The thread doesn't need to go and the title doesn't need to change. If either were the case I would have done it ages ago.

Well then why suggest merging it?

I have no problem with the thread existing per se, I'm just suggesting that the whoring (and that's what it is, as already mentioned) go into whoretown. It's a more appropriate place for it, the activity in whoretown would likely be more beneficial than it is in here, and if anyone is interested in actually coming to the regular meets they don't have to wade through pages of people talking about phones and cricket to find the relevant info, who is going etc, which sounds very much like the reason you gave for whoretown being A Bad Thing.

All the information needed for the meets is on the first few pages. Any questions relating to meets that randomly pop on in this thead are also answered. Everyone can find out nice and easy about the meet.

Take the additional posting out of this thread and then it does just become an events thread, and like all events threads it will sink it's way to the bottom and die, or fill up with a new batch of whoring.

Give it a go, it's not that bad :)

I don't see why we should have to when we already have this thread. It's not like we're reforming the Third Reich in here, or arming/funding terrorists, so I don't see how it really bothers anyone.

john just mix with what you got.

my rules only stop when it comes down to flavoured milk and spirits.

have even tried beer and spirits before, not too bad

Nah... I'll pass haha.

Anyway, might have to drive out to get dinner soon. So no drinking for me anyway.

It's not like we're reforming the Third Reich in here, or arming/funding terrorists

I'm keen...

Love the red drift rims on the back :)

Its got good style aye?

Anyway, might have to drive out to get dinner soon. So no drinking for me anyway.

Same. I'm currently "working" from home. which is awesome, coz the crickets about to come back on.

    • The question then becomes - was there any fluid coming from that hole before you did the rebuild ?    You may not have noticed, of course.   Depending on how you did the rebuild, the possibility has to be considered that somehow (cleaning ?)  fluid entered that hole and is now being 'forced'  out by small movements of the proportioning valve.   From the factory, there's actually a small rubber plug in that hole but with age and under-bonnet heat it's quite common for it to 'go missing'.  That rubber plug is designed to allow the venting process but also to prevent 'stuff' getting to the area (prevent corrosion, etc).   The plug is also not available as a spare part AFAIA. Personally I wouldn't race and buy a new master just yet but keep an eye on the area to see if the 'leak' continues.   If you're concerned about brake fluid damaging nearby paintwork, cable tie a piece of suitable absorbant material over the hole and remove/monitor occasionally.    Operation of the proportioning valve and the brake master itself won't be affected, but also keep an eye on brake fluid level, of course. In terms of a new master, the genuine part is getting expensive, unfortunately.  Amayama is showing AUD900+.   I was searching recently and there's an aftermarket part available from Japan made by 'Parts Assist': https://zenmarket.jp/en/yahoo.aspx?q=BNR32%2bBM50&p=1 Whether it's any good I have no idea, although in my experience Japanese aftermarket stuff is pretty good quality-wise.   The above site allows overseas buyers to purchase stuff more easily from Japan but there are fees and shipping costs, of course.   The original Japanese seller page is here: https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p1197401228 Copper/Nickel is fine but I still prefer bundy tube and it's also cheaper.
