in all seriousness trying to save money on fuel and other assorted things and having a GTR is a bit like wanking with sandpaper it can be done but it isnt the right way and the end result wont be as enjoyable as it should have been

Exactly.

That's why I think he should just buy a hektik Excel.

Think about how mad sick baller it could be!

bang on chromie wheel trims, exhaust with volume control, stereo system worth as much as his current car.

2K resale value.

mmmm yeah... touch me like that Uleh!

im not trying to get 600kms to a tank or something, im just trying to keep it the way it is,

when i bought the car it did 160kms to a tank dont know why but it did, after a service everything was better, my car has been on running on 0.7 bar since i bought it, im quite happy with everything and the way it runs, i wana learn more about the car before i want any more mods or power, ive never cut any corners with the car as that doesnt work in the long run, i just want it to be reliable and so far it hasnt let me down at all.

when im old and experienced enough as some of you are and have the money more mods will be done, but for now this is it.

afternoon

i see another day of solid whoring in here. to save me reading all the crap, did I miss much?

Cliffnotes:

f**kING LAWL

So off the phone with TPG. The resubmitted my application today so it will be another 3-5 days before internets is connected. Seriously they suck so much arse it's unbelievable. I am sick of being on hold with that shitty music and then talking to dumb f**king indians! GTFO!

haha whatever power it makes its sufficent for my needs, currently doin 350 to 400 a tank which is good enough, as long it stays like that im happy.
lol everyone wants different things out of thier cars,my cars street driven and response and fuel economy is more important to me then having 250kw is, il tune it the way i want since i am forking out so much on it, with stock turbos im quite happy with 0.9 bar of boost.

even the cat knows you're wrong...

Lol at john, back in form again!

In other news, my parts clean-up i have found my alloy turbo intake pipe! mmmmmm dose!

John bringin the lolz.

@Adam. I don't see anything wrong with keeping it standard/ tuned to .9 bar while your still in uni/jobless. Plenty of time to modify

haha whatever power it makes its sufficent for my needs

yet you're taking it from 0.7 to 0.9 ?

Ummmmmm?

add to that, pushing the boost up higher...

Then why get things you didn't 'need' as you said the other day? That'll change it from what it is :)

when im old and experienced enough as some of you are and have the money more mods will be done

I'm sure the age and money will be no problem

but for now this is it.

famous. last. words.

the boost is being put upto 0.9 bar because after talking to Rick at EFI , he said theres f**k all difference between 0.7 and 0.9 bar, this is not going to affect fuel economy or reliability in anyway,it would be better for the car to be tuned and run at 0.9, things that i have have done that i didnt need were mainly because of the labour costs im saving on, i am doing a full service and Dan recommended the Gates Timing Belt kit, and i found cam gears brand new pretty cheap and a new water pump was put in as part of the the service being done, i saved alot of money on labour as most of the labour costs overlap each other,

as for the powerfc i got it because i felt the car was running a bit rich and could do with a tune and feel smoother than it is now after being in brandons car and why bother with nistune when i can get a powerfc for a good price,

as for the all the synchros and bearings, it would be a smarter choice to change all of them rather than just 4th gear so i dont have to worry about anything in the long term and have pretty much a brand new gearbox,

and experience is something that comes with age, ive grown up in a different car culture and different laws to here, i learn new things as everyday passes, i believe that is what helps build experience, and as far as money is concerned sure i can live off my parents all my life if i want but thats not what i plan on doing.

    • Fark what are the changes of that snapping like that, clean. Nek minnit, custom radiator goes in, with built in oil cooler like those discontinued PWR ones from yesterdeacades ago
    • I thought I'd do a write up on an auto transmission fluid change for a the nissan 7 speed Automatic. At some stage the genius engineers decided that the fluid in the trans was "for the life of the transmission", (which seems kind of self supporting to me) and removed the dip stick and fill tube (funnily enough there is still a casting for it). Anyway, for this job you do need 2 specialist tools in addition to regular hand tools, jack and good chassis stands. You need a way to pump fluid up to the transmission; I got one of these but there are plenty of other options: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/364584087070 Don't trust the generic listing though, it does not come with the required adapter for the Nissan 7 Speed. You need one of these, can't do the job without it: https://navarapart.com.au/product/genuine-nissan-patrol-y62-d23-np300-navara-re7-dipstick-fill-connector1 You need a heap of compatible transmission oil. Could be Nissan, could be anything else rated for Nissan Matic S. You need at least 10 litres, I had 15 to give it a better flush... Also, you need some biiig oil catch trays, at least one of these, or bigger if possible (volume was fine, size was very marginal): https://autobarn.com.au/ab/Autobarn-Category/Tools-%26-Garage/Specialty-Tools/Oil-Service/Garage-Tough-Oil-Drain-Pan-Black-16L---GT1068/p/TO03191 Finally, a measuring jug is very useful if your pump does not have volumes marked on it, I got a 6l one: https://www.repco.com.au/oils-fluids/fluid-accessories/measuring-jugs/penrite-measuring-jug-6l-pmj006/p/A5322648 Oh, and gloves.....this stuff is horrible (not as bad as diff oil, but getting there) ....First, jack up your car.....
    • So I mentioned the apprentice, @LachyK helped take the bonnet off. We just undid the nuts on the hinges and unclipped the gas struts, then pulled the bonnet back a little as the front was catching on the front bar.  I had a good look at everything today and have removed the rams, repaired/reset the hinges and bolted it back together like it never happened. I'll do a separate write up on the repair, and I also removed the poppers from the Fuga today too to save grief down the road.....as said above it is at least $5k to repair retail. I'm also happier about my ability to prepare a race car, and less happy about Nis-nault's engineering (I can hear @GTSBoy sAfrican Americaning) because the top hose of the radiator didn't slip off.......it snapped clean off. By practice I put the hose clamp hard up against the flare on a neck to make it least likely to ever move (thanks @Neil!). I guess that puts a little more pressure on the end of the pipe as it is further away from the rad, but still, that is pretty shit. I've put it back on for now as there was a fair bit of neck still there, but obviously there is no lip on the neck any more so I don't think I'll track it again until I have a new rad. Speaking of which....more research required. It looks like Koyo makes a standard size radiator in ally which I'll grab in the meantime, but I really want something thicker so might have to go custom in the medium term (ouch) Coolant still needs a refill and I have the pressure tester on it over night, but other than a wash down of the engine bay it seems alright. And @MBS206 noted something noisy on the front of the engine and I think I agree....time for a new accessory belt and tensioners I think.
    • our good friends at nismo make a diff for it, I have one (and a spare housing to put the centre in) on the way. https://www.nismo.co.jp/products/web_catalogue/lsd/mechanical_lsd_v37.html AMS also make a helical one, but I prefer mechanical for track use in 2wd (I do run a quaife in the front, but not rear of the R32)
