Inner West Crew Whoretown (toowong/st Lucia/kenmore/indooroopilly And Sometimes Sunnybank?)

Cool! We can make it a mixed team, I dont propose we make an official team, just a bunch of people turn up of a sunday arvo in a park somwhere and play, at school we would do this all the time we would play league rules and use peoples shoes to mark the field lol

We could play red rover too

Preliminary Rollcage Ideas (courtesy of a picture off the internet and MSPAINT)

Green bits will be included if they are affordable and allowed under CAMS (nothing about them in sched. J of the cams manual though)

Purple bit will only be included if its cheap and the cage builder tells me its worthwhile.

Not sure which way to go with side intrusion yet. If double, apparently the old school X is not strong at the join, it needs to be gussetted or use two bent pipes welded together instead.

If single, I think I prefer it running right back to the harness bar as it doesn't create a bend point halfway up the main loop then...

What about the ladder style side instrusions? And the purple bit is the other bar to make the roof cross/X right? Would of thought that would be pretty standard for a cage builder to deal with ie not that expensive? Stuff penetrating the firewall is generally more expensive and difficult from what I've seen/read about on the internet.

I would prefer the two bent bars for the side intrusion but it's not like it's door to door racing so you're not likely to have anyone come crashing through your drivers door.

Squares are bad. Triangles :ninja:

Yeah, but I think the second part of the "X" is redundant here. Leaving it out will save weight and probably cost. Unless the engineer tells me its important its gone.

Yeah, but it also gives the most benefits for chassis rigidity. If its allowed by cams and not stupidly expensive, I'd like to include it.

Yeah I havend decided yet... the two bent bars would be best but the single bar would be lighter and probably enough. Unless I decide to use it for rallying and then I'd want the double bars.

I'm also tossing up wether to put a harness bar on the main loop as well so I don't have to run them right to the back...

wow there is a blast from the past

that got banned at out primary school due to injuries lol

Or force em back with the footy

great days... great days

Triangles obv > squares agree was just throwing it up as another option.

Most of the cages I've seen either have an X or a V in the roof. If engineers reckon it isn't needed I'd leave it out but I'd always want that extra protection if a roll over happens

Definitely better for rigidity but I only ever see it on the more serious cars which makes me think it will probably be prohibitively expensive.

Have a look at how Risking on here does his cages. He has the harness bar in the main hoop aswell I'd rock it like that if you can

Yeah found this thread, it's given me a few ideas for changes.

I might go with the V roof, it looks pretty strong (triangles) and not much more weight than the single bar

so who's coming tonight?

Martin & Dan will be westward bound for project alfa and thus be late.

I don't want to be just sitting there with my dick in my hand for 2 hours... so who else is coming?

league rules wins = epic grubbers and 5th tackle plays

Yeah football with out kicking is a bit shit, The only real problem you get is knock ons, leads to some interesting convos, so perhaps league rules with one touch rule, that being if the ball hits the ground its a turn over.

    • This. The R34 handbrake icon DOES come up when the brake fluid level is low. You might be sitting right on that threshhold. I have been down this diagnosis path and this was the solution (and it was pretty much as full as your picture is to begin with).
    • Unfortunately the cavaet to that is that while any scan tool should be able to read the code, the workshop will need a consult plug to OBD socket adapter. You don't have a location on your profile, where are you based?
    • @Haggerty this is your red flag. In MAP based ECU's the Manifold pressure X RPM calculation is how the engine knows it is actually...running/going through ANY load. You are confusing the term 'base map' with your base VE/Fuel table. When most people say 'base map' they mean the stock entire tune shipped with the ECU, hopefully aimed at a specific car/setup to use as a base for beginning to tune your specific car. Haltech has a lot of documentation (or at least they used to, I expect it to be better now). Read it voraciously.
    • I saw you mention this earlier and it raised a red flag, but I couldn't believe it was real. Yes, the vacuum signal should vary. It is the one and only load signal from the engine to the ECU, and it MUST vary. It is either not connected or is badly f**ked up in some way.
    • @Haggerty you still haven't answered my question.  Many things you are saying do not make sense for someone who can tune, yet I would not expect someone who cannot tune to be playing with the things in the ECU that you are.  This process would be a lot quicker to figure out if we can remove user error from the equation.
