john's

Actually, I would like to point out that I have only ever blamed the guy who installed the alarm in my car (useless prick), and to a very limited degree Phantom Motors/Jack for a few dodgy things on roadworthy and going against what I was told originally. I have no problems with any of the work Tas did on my car or the help he has given me.

Not trying to turn this into a pissing contest, but as my name was mentioned I just wanted to clear that up from my end bro :D

Also... did Adam ever get any work done there apart from a minor service?

So shouldnt you be rushing back to him to do some more work?? as apposed to hitting up Marto/Dan for help??

I'm leaving this issue before it turns into a shit fight.

also - as for Adam, I just know he too went elsewhere - I havn't kept in touch with him.

disclaimer:

I know I am dealing with John here - so I know that regardless of what I've said, I know I'll get some smart remark/pay out/thats waht she said/excuse/blah blah blah - but I dont really care.

how would 18*7.5 +38 fill my front guards? better or worse than present?

and the rears that im looking at would be 18*9.5 +38. Some staggered as wheels but, meh.

A penny for your thoughts?

F off. Im broke! =P

rears: 19*10.5 -7, 275/30

ps get those wheels too - Volk GTCs

Well since my name was mentioned here is my two cents,

I wasn't happy originally with the service Tas did on my car but after talking to him about it and the follow up service I received I was happy. I was also happy with the repair to my accelerator as well. I wasn't happy with the avcr simply because the intermitent noise I was hearing was faulsly reported as a bearing in the turbo due to over boost. It wasn't it is the throw out bearing in the gearbox. I adressed this with Tas. I accepted part responsibility and we moved on. Personally I think that Tas has done his best and my hat is off to him for going out on a limb and trying to start a business.

I ask him for advice about certain things and if he did have a shop I would take my car back there.

The End.

Lets build a bridge and move on.

John : apologies for the other week. Was a bit of a head f_ck on the weekend as my son (who I haven't seen in 7 years) was at my mums. So you'll forgive me if I was a bit out of form and not contactable for a while.

Martin : Presently I do not think I will be there on thursday. I will endeavour to get your parts to you somehow... possibly by swallow.

Does anyone know the airspeed of a un-burdened swallow ?

Tony I have some wheels sitting at my place that are my mates from Melb. Been at my place for a while.......... 12 months to be exact. Pretty sure he's happy for me to sell them. 17 x 8 and 17 x 9 with + 35 offsets. Have tyres too. Feel free to come and try them on.

Like I said man, not turning it into a fight or anything. I just wanted to speak up as my name was mentioned. Tas was actually busy dealing with his own cars when I was wanting more work done on my car, and Dan and Martin offered to help me. I'm on the fence for the whole thing and staying objective and have no problem staying friends with both parties who've done no wrong by me.

Phantom Motors however, can eat a dick.

I actually didn't think my other post sounded all that confrontational :whistling:

Those wheel doesnt look like GTC Tristan. GTC has fatter spokes. Anyway you going drifting next Friday? I'll probably come have a look if you are.

John: Hahaha... I havent been there for ages. Just thought of going there and get a couple of shots for the car. Afterall, I dont have a good camera nor is my camera skill any good.

Colin: You running pod filters?

See if you can coax the GABNR out of hiding. It'd save you getting aids from Harry's.

    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
