I has Nistune :)

Should I butcher it myself... or should I let the expert (Scott) handle it?

Have a go. If it don't work just use a bigger hammer

Any suggestions on what panel filters are good / better / best ?

Dunno, ask Scottaaayyy. For the record though, C.H. is now open again.

Ordered a Nismo wheel for my GT-R today so i never had to look at that disgusting Isotta it came with again.

I like not having crap in cars. Great step in improvement!

Yeah I know... that's why I haven't done it already...

Better let Scott do it.

I bought a DR/FT one from Autobarns... Works good as.

Anyone have a big car jack i could use for a few days?? Have to change the clutch in the skyline.

I have a heavy duty jack. You can borrow it.

I got one i'll loan you for a 6 pack of Heineken/Lowenbrau/Oettinger.

Yer martin, pretty keen either way to destroy it somehow, blowing one up and shooting one will be good enough, i want to be able to have mine as a show piece on my wall of shame. That B&M shifter in the chev was a dog, seriously i had 2 drunks trying to tell me how to hold up a little lever and move something then have to put the shifter all the way forwards then slam it backwards and that'll be first, then a tray load of drunks telling me to hurry up and a sober(ish) med student tell me how we are all going to die. Then there was the dash full of gauges.......

Oh as for nistune, let scott stuff it up so you got someone to blame for your problems if it all goes wrong.

Also in news, in less then 2 weeks time i am offically the main lotus technician in brisbane, i have training this year in sydney for the new models.

Ahh good times. I dunno man, I still think you can't drive. Dale could always get it in the right gear ;)

Ravi:

I'm awesome at fixing american pickup trucks with dodgy electronics, just don't fit a dodgy B&M shifter i can only find reverse when i want drive and 3rd when i want reverse

This pleases me...... and it's ok, I don't even know what shifter you're talking about hahahaha

From a cost effective point of view you'd be better of buying a VW van or something. F100 parts would be hard to source I'd imagine. It would be sick though. Mind you, I used to bum around in an old liberty wagon with a drumkit in the back, two guitars, a bass and two 50w amps. It was cramped, but it worked

I DO love the sound of those old v dubs.... but I also love the sound of a V8 hahahahaha

F-truck parts are easy to come by, theres lots of them on the road and most of the parts aren't anything special

Excellent...... congrats on the head lotus thing!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm head lotus

Morning all

Jason you might wanna be careful posting stuff like that on a public forum

What chev was it in? Driving one with a t56 box in it (six speed I think) you have to push it back and forward again to get into reverse. I didnt know that and just slammed that shit into gear.

What size do you need? how high?

    • I saw you mention this earlier and it raised a red flag, but I couldn't believe it was real. Yes, the vacuum signal should vary. It is the one and only load signal from the engine to the ECU, and it MUST vary. It is either not connected or is badly f**ked up in some way.
    • @Haggerty you still haven't answered my question.  Many things you are saying do not make sense for someone who can tune, yet I would not expect someone who cannot tune to be playing with the things in the ECU that you are.  This process would be a lot quicker to figure out if we can remove user error from the equation.
    • If as it's stalling, the fuel pressure rises, it's saying there's less vacuum in the intake manifold. This is pretty typical of an engine that is slowing down.   While typically is agree it sounds fuel related, it really sounds fuel/air mixture related. Since the whole system has been refurbished, including injectors, pump, etc, it's likely we've altered how well the system is delivering fuel. If someone before you has messed with the IACV because it needed fiddling with as the fuel system was dieing out, we need to readjust it back. Getting things back to factory spec everywhere, is what's going to help the entire system. So if it idles at 400rpm with no IACV, that needs raising. Getting factory air flow back to normal will help us get everything back in spec, and likely help chase down any other issues. Back on IACV, if the base idle (no IACV plugged in) is too far out, it's a lot harder for the ECU to control idle. The IACV duty cycle causes non linear variations in reality. When I've tuned the idle valves in the past, you need to keep it in a relatively narrow window on aftermarket ecus to stop them doing wild dances. It also means if your base idle is too low, the valve needs to open too much, and then the smallest % change ends up being a huge variation.
    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
