Inner West Crew Whoretown (toowong/st Lucia/kenmore/indooroopilly And Sometimes Sunnybank?)

Went to archerfield to watch the drifting today, theres certainly some colorful characters out there, including a guy that looked like snoop dogg.

Now that I have sunburn that has turned purple I'm thinking I'll probably pack the sunscreen next time

Back in Brissy now :)

What's the plan for Thursday night? BnR at Chapel Hill? Steak?

It's also time to start getting some work done to my baby. Going to see if Fulcrum can have a look at my suspension some time this week, it has Tein Coilovers and an EDFC but I want to get it all checked over and get the car raised slightly so I'm not bottoming out all the time and I can hopefully eliminate some of the god damn wheel rubbing as well. Then it's off to Chris Rogers to get the Sat Nav/DVD/Radio all sorted. Once that's all done I need to find a decent workshop to get a full service done and get it up on a dyno to see what sort of power I'm making and where we can go from there.

I'm thinking the order of work to be done is as follows:

- Exhaust, 3" turbo back... currently have at least a cat back with a 5" tip but there are some exhaust leaks according to the pre purchase inspection I got done.

- Intake (not sure if I want to go pod or keep the stock air box yet)

- Z32 AFM, Nistune ECU, return flow FMIC all in one hit. Possibly get the standard turbo up to 9-10psi at this stage as well but I'm not sure how well that would go, the car has done 140,000km...

- Get the gear box shift kitted, strengthened, high stall and a cooler put in (it's an auto)

- Miscellaneous systems upgraded/replaced (fuel pump, slightly larger injectors, new coil packs etc)

- New Turbo - thinking a HKS GT-RS. I'm not looking for a monster level of power, more around the 230-250rwkw level. From what I have read the GT-RS will do these power levels safely but still give decent responsiveness without huge amounts of lag.

Thoughts/opinions on the planed upgrade route?

keep the airbox, and get an Apexi panel filter for it. Stock turbo will hold 10-12psi nicely, with a decent boost controller everything else on the list looks pretty good to do them power figures, guessing your turbo is the stock 34 item with the OP6 rear housing if it is then just send it away to get highflowed rather then spending big $$ on a HKS item.

Fixed the brumby today, LH front driveshaft was stuff, while i was under it though i found the rattle, tail shaft uni is buggered :( the list never ends

Sarp mangs. Successful weekend was successful. Tree cut down out at mum n dads place, bike serviced - new air and fuel filter and some new plugs. Still has a miss high up though so I'm thinking the carby needs cleaning/ignition problem? Also did an oil change in the 32. Nearly 15,000kms between oil changes >_< Still going strong though :worship:

Keen for Star Wars. Pay day tomorrow

Morning Mangs,

Morning.

Bored at work

I've done pretty much no work today. Bus driver dude isn't there, so i did the bus run as soon as i got to work at 9. By the time i got back it was smoko time, then after that they sent me to newstead to get keys to take the the locksmith that i'm at now. Then after this i go back to newstead to get more parts, then back to windsor. By then they'll probably have another mission that will take me up to lunch time.

All in all a good morning so far

Hahahahaha nice John

Morning mangs

Spent the weekend camping at a doof out west... feel strangely rested and motivated, despite partying all weekend haha. What's news around here? Can't be bothered reading back over the last few pages lol

The skyline world ended as you know it.

Refer back a few pages for more details.

Had a proper poke around under the hood/car for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised by what I found :)

Full turbo back exhaust by CES Racing including a split dump pipe and an after market panel filter in the air box (although it is FILTHY, need a new one). That's points one and two taken care of on my list! Got the car booked in with Fulcrum on Wednesday to sort the suspension out then I might give CES a call to see if they can sort the exhaust leaks out and I'm laughing.

Damnit, I can't believe I fell for that

Score!! Suspension will probably make you feel a lot better about the car than power upgrades right off the bat after an exhaust. That's where I'm heading with my baby soon..

Who wants to volunteer to strap them selves to my suspension so I can find out where my noises are coming from?

haven't moved yet. Let's just say i know the 2 people i'll be living with, you have been there before, and its a car friendly house

    • Per Mark Roberts of Sonictune: Mark Robert Author At this time, no. No ETA either 2016-17 models. You will be able to purchase and install a 2018.5+ TCU though   TCU purchasing and pricing info! As we near the release of TCU tuning, I am going to answer some questions I get asked often.   What do I need for TCU tuning? At this time, you will need a 2018.5+ TCU to be able to tune. If you have a 2016-to early 2018, you will need to replace your TCU with the newer version. One good way to know if your TCU is good is if you have auto upshift in manual mode in 1st gear around 6500 rpms. If your manual 1st gear goes to 7k rpm and will hit the rev limiter unless you shift, you have the older TCU.   Why do I need to buy another ecu license/phone flash if I already have it on my ECU tune? The TCU is its own computer module. It is completely separate from the ECU. Because of this, you will be required to purchase a TCU license and, if your tuner has it, the phone flash license required to tune it via phone/bluetooth.   Do I need TCU tuning? TCU tuning is NOT required. However, the faster your setup, the more it will assist in track and dragy time consistency.   If I’m ECU tuned by (tuner A) can I get my TCU tuned by (Tuner ? Yes, since it’s a different module and a completely separate flash, you can have two different tuners. However, it is highly recommend that you have both tuned by the same tuner. For me, my TCU tuning will directly complement my ECU tuning style and features and running my ECU and another TCU or vice versa MIGHT cause some issues. At this time and for the foreseeable future, I will only be tuning my current ECU tuned customers TCUs.     I have a SYVECS AWD controller. Do I still need it? Yes! The AWD controllers main job is to control your AWD system. However, with TCU tuning, you will no longer need the auto-shift function as that will be done through the TCU. The AWD controller will still be very beneficial for racers looking to maximize traction on the launch.     Shift schedule changes: holding gears longer at lower pedal input as well as max shift rpm changes. Please note, the new ECU race rom coming out will address 90% of the shitty drivability issues these cars have through custom maps from myself and Racebox—as well as others I am sure.   Increase shift speeds: as seen in the videos I’ve been posting, the TCU shifts much faster once tuned.   Increased shift pressures: as also seen in the videos, much firmer full throttle shifts.

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
