Recently just installed the Turbosmart dual stage boost controller low boost set to 7psi and hi set to 10psi running stock turbo/intercooler.

While i thought running 7psi on low boost is stock, it seems to be much faster?? now boost comes on at 2,700rpm is this normal? i can feel more pull even on low while on high it goes ballastic.

Anyone else experienced similar?

Cheers All.

Are you complaining ???...or what?? :P

Are you relying on the stock boost gauge or do you have aftermarket

The model Turbosmart you have incorporates a wastegate anti creep gizmo which helps to bring on boost earlier

yeah with the turbosmart gear i have found that they actualy spike higher than what you set, then drop back to the setting.

so it prob feels faster because its hitting that boost level a little higher then dropping to the setting.

You'll also find that a lot of the bleed valves these days have some sort of anti wastegate creep built into them.

So by just installing one and leaving the boost stock, the boost will come in earlier and a bit harder.

When I was on the dyno, the operator was supprised to see my car had usable boost as low as 1800rpm in 4th gear !!

It's cause the bleed valve I'm using has an adjustable anti wastegate valve, as well as the normal bleed valve (it's a TurboXS HPBC).

Ben,

I'm not 100% clued up on it, but from reading the instructions it looks like it has two valves.

The first is a adjustable pressure valve so it will only pass air (that's funny :( ) when a certain amount of pressure has been reached. Then the second valve bleeds off air to hold the boost at a certain level.

So..... The way I've got mine set up is that the first valve is set to 10psi, so the first valve won't open until it see's 10psi, then the second valve bleeds off enough air to hold 12psi.

This way the wastegate (in theory) see's no pressure until 10psi - which leads to eariler spoolups :(

hey 51jay :( using my stock boost guage..will be investing in a aftermarket gauge in the near future. when it creeps up it sits just below the +7 mark on stock gauge. It use to run +3.5 1/2 way. How at roughly 5000rpm and above the car jerks alittle.. I have SAFC but haven't tuned it yet.. is this why the car jerks after 5000rpm + because not enough fuel pumping now that it is boosted to 10psi?

THanks for the feedback ppl. much appreciated.

The +7mark=about 1bar or 14.6psi, the halfway mark about 0.5bar or 7.3psi so 10.0psi would be about 3/4 mark. Boost level will be much easier to regulate with a properly graduated aftermarket guage. Sounds like your hitting up to around 12-13psi,....shouldn't hurt it.....enjoy the power.

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
