wow... i think you have taken that way outa context... i am referring to my interests in regards to F1, you seem to keep on telling me what i like about the sport when you have no clue about my views or interest in the sport (tho it appears you have worked out that i'd like webber to win a race/take pole). Why would i need to threaten you about F1 discussion?? lol?? take a chill pill man, then take a reality one...

agreed, his argument is invalid because he makes it with stupid pictures! and dan is just a tool, perhaps we should all report his posts and give him a holiday!?!?!

nah, not telling you that you have copped out, i just hope you will take your blinkers off and aproach things with an open mind... if you want to be closed minded, thats fine, i'll just attempt to crowbar it open any way i can! =P

my phone number is 0408 893 559... would love to talk F1, not enough talk of it imo, but not this week... its exam time and since these are the first exams i'm taking in about 8 years, i'd really like to study (this is just a study break for me atm - i didn't even get to watch the race live because of study =\)

WTF?!?! who died and made you mod??? got take it to the waste land where you think people care about your opinion!

on a side note: have you heard the new that the calander for the break away series has been released and ADELAIDE IS THE LAST EVENT OF THE YEAR!!!!! f**k YEAH!!!!!!! bring it on!! the fastest cars in the world once again racing in adelaide FTW!!!! everyone knows we have the BEST street circuit, rivaled only by monaco, and thats only got history and the fact that it test a driver to the max on its side... where as adealide is one of the best racing street circuits ever!!

Yer i heard something about this on the news last night, not hanging my hopes on it, f**king victoria taking everything wankers

Cool. Easy to mis-interpret tone on the inet, I apologise :D

Let me know when you're done with your exams and we'll have a chat about F1, even over a beer if you're game.

Read that too (didn't take long did it) about the break away series calender. I'd love to see F1 cars back on the streets of Adelaide but I' not going to get excited yet until there is some form of confirmation. Monaco isn't really a drivers track, most F1 drivers aren't that fond of it...... It would be soooo interesting to see a modern F1 car with the sort of grip levels they have now on the streets here.

MMMM I want. I used to love the atmosphere of the f1's, the v8's never really did it for me... would love to see the old adelaide track resurfaced and used >

but of course if media mike gets a race here in adelaide, he has to worry about balancing his 'tough on hoon' hot air vs the 'sa is great and f1 is great and im great cos im the premier' etc..

-D

yeah, mebe a few of us can get together and watch a race + beer... but if you guys are anything like me, u'd hate people talking during the race!! if your there to watch F1, sit down shut up and watch as you like to be really involved in the race.. if its just on in the background while people are doing other stuff its not worth doing imo! tho add breaks are for talking =D

so im not sure where we could do it, mebe at the rosemont on a sunday for one of the earlier races, or at someones house if they are game (plus have big tv, awsome sound system and comfy seats)

I'm the same, V8 Supercars don't do it for me at all... F1 however.... where do I start... :P

I'd be keen for a F1 get together, and yeah no talking while the action is on. If OneHD does the Japanese GP later in the season live it could be the goer.

Thats because the McLaren looks like an absolute PIG of a thing to drive, watching the onboard shots from qualifying 2 and watching Heiki drive that car mostly sideways through the stadium section made it clear....

Exactly my point...Ferrari and McLaren were on par with each other in the Australia GP....and look where Ferrari are now (fighting for a podium place so to speak finishing 4th) and where McLaren are now (fighthing for 16th place)....

That is sounding nice....maybe we could just do a SAU-F1 get together lol have a few brews and watch the awesome sport they call F1.....i am down like a clown for this

I'm not overly concerned about refuelling so long as they maintain pit stops for tyres. Used to make F1 interesting in the 'old days' when they didn't refuel them, makes teams/drivers have to manage their fuel consumption.... In those days some cars would coast across the start finish line or not make it home at all!

Yeah i agree with keeping the pit stops in the game.....to see who can get the best strategy etc etc....if no refueling means that the F1 GP will be like 30-40 laps maximum......which sort of takes the fun out of it but ahh well

Seems Kimi's gonna go rally driving....

http://www.motorward.com/2009/06/kimi-raik...but-in-finland/

You think thats the precursor to kimi leaving F1 at the end of the year and alonso taking his seat?? =\

/me is not a huge alonso fan

    • I have no hard data to report, but I have to say, having driven it to work and back all week, mostly on wet roads (and therefore mostly not able to contemplate anything too outrageous anywhere)..... it is real good. I turned the boost controller on, with duty cycle set to 10% (which may not be enough to actually increase the boost), and the start boost set to 15 psi. That should keep the gate unpressurised until at least 15 psi. And rolling at 80 in 5th, which is <2k rpm, going to WOT sees the MAP go +ve even before it crosses 2k and it has >5 psi by the time it hits 90 km/h. That's still <<2.5k rpm, so I think it's actually doing really well. Because of all the not-quite-ideal things that have been in place since the turbo first went on, it felt laggy. It's actually not. The response appears to be as good as you could hope for with a highflow.
    • Or just put in a 1JZ, and sell me the NEO head 😎
    • Oh, it's been done. You just run a wire out there and back. But they have been known to do coolant temp sensors, MAP sensors, etc. They're not silly (at Regency Park) and know what's what with all the different cars.
    • Please ignore I found the right way of installing it thanks
    • There are advantages, and disadvantages to remapping the factory.   The factory runs billions of different maps, to account for sooooo many variables, especially when you bring in things like constantly variable cams etc. By remapping all those maps appropriately, you can get the car to drive so damn nicely, and very much so like it does from the factory. This means it can utilise a LOT of weird things in the maps, to alter how it drives in situations like cruise on a freeway, and how that will get your fuel economy right down.   I haven't seen an aftermarket ECU that truly has THAT MANY adjustable parameters. EG, the VAG ECUs are somewhere around 2,000 different tables for it to work out what to do at any one point in time. So for a vehicle being daily driven etc, I see this as a great advantage, but it does mean spending a bit more time, and with a tuner who really knows that ECU.   On the flip side, an aftermarket ECU, in something like a weekender, or a proper race car, torque based tuning IMO doesn't make that much sense. In those scenarios you're not out there hunting down stuff like "the best way to minimise fuel usage at minor power so that we can go from 8L/100km to 7.3L/100km. You're more worried about it being ready to make as much freaking power as possible when you step back on the loud pedal as you come out of turn 2, not waiting the extra 100ms for all the cams to adjust etc. So in this scenario, realistically you tune the motor to make power, based on the load. People will then play with things like throttle response, and drive by wire mapping to get it more "driveable".   Funnily enough, I was watching something Finnegans Garage, and he has a huge blown Hemi in a 9 second 1955 Chev that is road registered. To make it more driveable on the road recently, they started testing blocking up the intake with kids footballs, to effectively reduce air flow when they're on the road, and make the throttle less touchy and more driveable. Plus some other weird shit the yankee aftermarket ECUs do. Made me think of Kinks R34...
