Found this ebay shop:

ADR approved helmets, only 50 bucks + postage. You will pay an extra $15 or so for express postage.

I also paid an extra $10 for a tinted visor, not that I'll need it but hey it's 10 bucks.

Now before any of you bikers get fired up and give me some good advice about cheap helmets, I know the price reflects the quality and all that, if I was on a motorbike I'd fork out for a good Shoei, but I'm IN the car, and it's got airbags, cheap helmet will do me for now. Cheers for caring about me though :D

EDIT:

and I paid through paypal hooked into my savings account. Visa debit baby, gotta love it :D

^ -1 dude

paypal is instant. The seller has already got my payment and messaged me to say he is going to the post office now.

Express post should arrive tomorrow, latest friday, assuming Australia post can read an address.

Its a grip day.

Yeah i got vy commie coil packs waiting to go in, should fix the misfiring. Its a cheap fix over splitfires but should work till i save up for some decent gear. They're said to handle up to 28psi boost which is nowhere near what I'm running so I'm hoping it works out.

Whats wrong with your car? Mines worse than yours + auto :P

its defected for once....dont have a trailer atm to chuck it on and take it to the tracks

suspension is very very soft....investing in some soon

doesnt really like warm days and recently been knocking a bit....think it needs a touch up tune

apart from that its not too bad

Last prac day i went to had about 5 sessions of about 6-7 laps, it just depends if there are things like oil spills on the track etc etc.

You dont have to do every lap of the session, if your car overheats you can pull into the pits or drive a bit slower just dont get in the way of other cars. When i come into the pits i do a few very slow laps of the pits to help the car cool and dont hold with your foot on the brake's while they are hot.

Overtaking is allowed on the straights, but is not permitted under brakes.

I recommend that you have new brake pads or near new, as last prac day i had to drive home with no rear pads left ;) and take a tyre pressure gauge as you will need to adjust the pressure when the tyre's are hot. Pressures will jump about 4-6 psi or more.

Cheers for the info dstroy.

I'm going assuming my helmet arrives in time, got a mate with an evo who will probably come as well. Do we need to register or book a spot somehere? or do we just show up?

got a fire extinguisher?

pretty sure you need one mounted within reach from drivers seat.

and for me things are starting to look like i might be missing this one, called a few shops up, everyone needs to order the discs coz no one stocks em (down south anyways) and im not taking it without decent brakes :)

ffs.. was really looking forward to this.

can anyone confirm the fire extinguisher thing?

How's this for brake upgrades:

Looks like we have a green light for track day.

if anyone is keen to drive up there together I will be meeting at BP west Tce at 3:15 on the Saturday, fuel up and check tyres, head out at 3:30 and we should be there before 4:30.

Should be meeting at least 1 other car there, maybe 2.

If you're keen PM me to exchange mobile numbers.

My car is ready to go, going to put some new thicker oil in (15w-40) tomorrow. Shame I'll be running with no boost control (aka stock actuator pressure 10psi) with a very conservative tune (EBC let go on the dyno, tune not finished), boost controller is going back to the manufacturer to be replaced.

Aren't open track days just 10am to 5pm (opening at 8ish), 4:30am is quite early or 4:30pm quite late (unless i'm completely wrong about open grip days running at night as well)

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
