Hey guys i recently bought a r33 gtst with a KKR560 internal gated turbo.

By reading some users comments on kkr they arnt the best? Ive just blown mine aswell.

What i would like to ask is the internal wastegate on this turbo is one ive never seen before. It looks to be welded up from factory and has no way or being incorperated into the dump pipe? The wastegate flap is unable to be plumbed into the exhaust by the looks of it? Also it looks to be welded up?

http://www.otomoto.com.au/kkr/KKR560.html

Thats the turbo as you can see the flap looks to have afew spot welds holding it shut?

Can anyone tell me how this turbo would control boost with it being welded shut or am i just missing something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks :(

what to you mean blown? exhaust wheel smashed out? seal went, whats symptoms?

more details..... I here "my turbo is blown" a fair bit, usually its something else, poor install and/or leaking IC pipe etc

thanks mitchy that what i thought but without having the turbo off the car i assumed it was welded shut.

well i was driving and dropped it back from 3rd to 2nd and i heard a loud clap noise and there was quite abit of blue smoke out the exhaust i think the turbo has dropped the seals.

my car is the actual one on the otomoto websit the dyno chart is my r33 http://www.otomoto.com.au/kkr/KKR560.html but not running 22psi anymore. Its at 18psi

i would say you may of indeed blown seals, i saw a 2JZ send the exhaust turbine wheel into the cat, followed by lots of blue smoke.

KKR are dodgy from what i have read, however what i have read would lead me to beleive that they are reasonably safe at lower boost levels.

how many Ks has it done?

its about a year old say about 20000kms on the turbo

i will check all ic pipes aswell

i have checked the turbo there is no oil in it or any shaft play. The car idles fine for 20seconds then up down up down.

I think it might be something else. Might be AFM? are the r33 ones common to play up?

When it happened i down shifted from 3rd to 2nd and i heard a loud "clap" sound followed by smoke out the exhaust and car when reving past 2.5k starts to splutter.

anyone know of what it could be?

sounds like pipe work to me. check you havent split any silicone and just double and triple check every clamping point from the compressor housing to the throttle body.

    • Pads for R32 GTS-t, R32 GT-R non V-Spec (Sumitomo), R33 GTS-t and R34 GT-t are all interchangeable. R34 GT uses a 2x piston caliper, hence it didn't fit.
    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
