65/55 halogen is the basic legal lighting

if your talking about Zenon/HID in your 34 then they are illegal as they don't have built in washer and auto adjust

From what ive experienced the police only seem to care that the colour is no higher then 6000k.

I seriously doubt police would know the difference between projector head lights and the normal kind.

projector has nothing to do with it

r32 has projectors standard with halogens same as s13/14/15 silvias etc

i thought projectors were the type of headlight that needed to have washers and be adjustable if you want hid's in them?

Hence why my 300c has got those functions? (Comes factory with hid).

So its illegal to replace the halogens with something like a Philips Blue Vision globe? or any globe that produces `white light'?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Philips-H1-12v-Blue...A1%7C240%3A1318

This one on ebay mentions its ADR approved for road use. Does that mean anything here in W.A.?

dont just replace the bulb. its pointless. my friend just put white globes in her 34 and they look after market and all and bright but arent. eg. driving on tonkin between great eastern and leech hw we were side by side and playfully i turned my headlights off and the whole road was pitch black. her white globes just lit afew meters infront was was just a epic failure. funny seeing her reaction tho lol

installation takes 15 mins.. 30 mins if you do a neat job of it.

Plugs into existing wiring... no cutting of wires needed.

China made kits are as cheap as chips and are actually half decent. Ive had a pair in my ute for awhile now.

Though my skyline is using a branded kit. Differences is minimal.

Cant quite afford the HID kit atm, tough economic times. So u reckon id be better off jus sticking to normal halogens than the white globes?

Coz ive seen a set of these globes on a S14 & they look pretty bright, not sure wot temp rating they were, the higher the rating the whiter the globe. Im guessing the ones i saw is round the 4000-5000K

those globes you are wanting are around what 50bucks?

For 50 more you can pick up a hid kit of ebay.

They will be good enough for now and certainly brighter then just the bulbs.

Later when you got extra cash you can always upgrade the hid to a branded one... and sell off ur ebay ones for say 50 bucks. So i would defiantly go down that route.

Got a link? There seems to be quite a few on ebay & im not too sure which ones r good. And as mentioned above they r piss easy to install hey??

Any aftermarket HID kit is illegal if the car did not come with them from factory? Most factory cars with xenons are 4300k. If you get stickered for something else though and you have to go through the pits, I doubt they'll pass you if you had HID's..

ive been stopped numerous times and all they care about is the heat range.

As i said earlier in this thread.

THey are illegal in cars which have projector head lights that wont have washers and are adjustable. However must police wont check this/ know how to check it.

In regards to stickering... since they require no cutting of wires its very very easy to return back to stock. It will take 10 mins max to do this.

Just keep your stock globes in case u get stickered for something else.

ive never had trouble with using 6000k hid and ive used them since i started driving cars.. which was 5 years ago?

as for ebay link

this one is fine. 100 bucks for the kit. Good enough for now... later when you got spare cash pick up a nicer branded one.

But it will be much better then just getting the globe.

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
