M35 Bumper Front And Rear

Has anyone here removed the front and rear bumpers on the M35 models. I'm going to get the front and rear bumpers resprayed and want to make sure I don't break anything.

How about removing the interior rear door card? Need to get the body panel off under the rear lights to paint as well.

Also the side moulding on the doors, are they just taped on so there are no holes in the doors?

yeah the side moulds are just double-sided taped onto the car. be VERY careful when you remove them, maybe heat them up gently before removing them, or leave the car in the sun for an hour before you do it

as for the bumpers, im not sure, but id like to know too lol

ive done the front bar

lot's of little clips and 2 bolts from the fenders that hold the bar on the guard..

also the bottom splash guards are held on to the front bar as well

u need to remove around 20-30 bolts and plastic clips to take the bar off

Front bumper doesn't seem to be much of a problem.

Its the rear one that interests me the most, seems a lot of the clips etc are hidden from the eye not like the front one.

Also forgot to ask about removing the rear boot interior door card, will edit my post.

ohh yeah, the rear bumper looks REAL interesting lol i opened the boot and closed it again. youre right, everything is hidden!

rear gate? thats on snaps mostly.

rear bumper - similar idea to the front.

rear bumper is rairly streight forward, you need to remove the rear inner pannels to get access to some bolts /screws that bolt through the inside of the rear quarter pannels down to the rear bar (these ones are fun, dont drop the bolts as you will have trouble finding them). then there are a couple of screws at the back.

Looks like there are some brackets mounted to the car just below the door that allow some kind of clip to hold the bumper?

On the rear tailgate there is a plastic panel under the lights and number plate that I wish to remove. Has anyone seen how this comes off? Just asking first before I 'test' how it does .

I pulled off the insides of the tailgate today to fit a reverse camera and if my memory serves me right there are bolts on the inside of the tailgate that hold that piece on.

To get to them do it in the following order.

1) remove bolt just behind wiper motor. There is a black square cap covering the bolt.

2) pull the black cover on the tailgate (covering the wiper motor) up. there are 4 clips holding it down that just pull out, straight up.

3) remove all the little brown, and black clips holding on the carpet cover. On all 4 sides. It should just come off now.

Well that should save me some breakages. Always worried there are some hidden bolts/clips somewhere that I miss. Thanks for the info Andy!
