Ok so lets just say that "hyperthiticly" I'm considering supercharging my r34 skyline as im on my p's,will a sc14 supercharger make enough difference to bother with and would it be hard to hide,I'd plan on setting up a hiden on/off button so i can use it when im on the track and then turn it of for daily driving :)

What will i need? other then the supercharger and do i need to add anything, would i be able to do it myself without any hasel's?

i didnt know u could get a blower on your p's i thought all forced induction was banned

im in WA though so i can run wat eva i want on my p's haha

yeah im just wondering if its not connected (fully) it will be p plate legal in qld but if i can hide it and drive normally then i shouldnt have a problem

dude.

im going dn this path soon. but using a vortech supercharger

i recommend you do your homework on this as it isnt just a matter of "boltong on a blower and away you go" there is a lot of things that have to be considered when supercharging.

and its not a cheap thing to do either.

and yes, a supercharger is classified in the category of forced induction....just a different way of doing it

there's no "not connected" bullshit when it comes to these rules. if you have one in your car it's illegal.

by that misconception if you have a 600AWKW GTR and ran an actuator switch to hold the wastegate open all the time (thus making no boost) you'd be legally allowed to drive it? No.

If you can't make the car more powerful to go faster, then just make the car lighter and the engine more efficient. ie. sell your car and buy an S2000... which is still within the P plate rules. Besides, just use the allocated time to get better at driving your car, work your suspension etc. When you're off your P's you can upgrade to a turbo car.

Failing that, just take the risk and run a turbo, if you get done then sell your car and go back to the drawing board, if you don't... count your blessings. Just don't waste your time and money on stuff like superchargers.

i know if i get caught im f**ked but thats why im going to hide it very well, and im doing my research now by making this thread.

its not like its a huge amount of money for a sc14 and iv already thought of a way to hide it no one will be able to tell unless they pull appart my engine bay or front bar lol

im sorry but gonna have to say this,

but why f****g bother getting a supercharger if you are going to try and hide it? really think about it. that is the most f***d up thing ive heard!

why are you going to try and be a hero and take the risk of having something in your car that you are not allowed to have in the first place! you will get caught!

and you dont think that the noise of the blower itself wont be enough to grab a cops attention? think about it. this isnt a $5000 modification here, mine is costing me a round $30,000 in total if not more to do.

the charger will always be connected. so if's no butt's no maybe's. that how they work. they are always running a belt with the crank,

oh i was unawair that they made a sound all the time,if thats the case ill just take the belt of when i dont want to use it?,i dont know much about superchargers so ull have to bare with me lol,all i know is i upgraded my diff and that made a good improvment now i want that lil extra go to get the wheels spinning easyer.

they can be run on a clutch so they may be connected, but not operating.

i think you really need to do your research and consider everything you have to do. and i mean do your research. speak to engineers. a rebuild will have to be done.

a rebuild doesn't have to be done, it depends on how much boost/power is being pumped through it.

either way, unless you are hell bent on a supercharger, its a stupid waste of money, plenty of turbo kits available, will make the same power for a faction of the cost.

putting on a SC whilst still on your p's is another stupid idea too. how do you plan on "hiding" something that has to run off the crank, and has to force air thought the intake?

if u want ur wheels to spin easier then get a turbo.

to be honest you sound like a cowboy. sorry but its true. there is more to a supercharger than just upgrading your diff mate. that is if you want your engine to actually last. and no you just cant take off the belt. it doesent work that way,

that is the most f***d up thing ive heard!

why are you going to try and be a hero

that's fuckin hilarious coming from someone who's stroking their N/A and adding forced induction in the hope of making big power.

I dunno if you're aware, but Nissan stroked the RB engine to 2.6L and added two turbos to it about 20 years ago. Its quite cheap these days and can happily make 11ty billion kw given the amount of money you'll end up spending on stroking the 2.5L and custom supercharger kits. $30,000? you could sell that N/A 34 to some unfortunate P plater at premium prices and buy yourself an R34 GTR using the money you'd save on supercharging.

AFAIK stroking an N/A to 2.7L and adding a supercharger to it is the most fucked up thing I've heard. And doing it to be different just reeks of someone trying to be a hero. So please, don't be the kettle that calls the pot black.

its hard going from a turbo car to a non turbo car,i wont say how i plan on doing it over a site monitored by police but take my word for it they will have a hard time finding it,if they find it then congrats they can take my lisence, but im still only CONSIDERING doing this, just looking for pro's and cons

yeah depends on the time of blower tho aswell on whether they can be run off a clutch, but i honestly wouldnt see the point of supercharging to have it "running" all the time

i am hell bent on blowing my car. i have everything sorted for it. i have my "team" you could say aswell. i cant wait. but im not going for something that i gonna make me spin my wheels easier. my setup is gonna be done properly from the word go.

and?

ur point is? its my money and my car. i shall do what i want and how i want and i dont care what you think about it.

like with most things i do, everyone has a negatitive opinion on it.

and i dont think u actually read my post correctly either as i was mainly applying what u quoted to the fact what is the point of having a supercharger if your not going to use it properly?

and just so you know, i will be making big power. dont assume that i wont.

i enjoy driving with abit of an angle, thats my hobby so if spending a lil extra $$$ on making my car that little bit easyer to drive sideways then im more then happy to do it and take the risk's,i just want info on it before i go and "waiste" my money.

i was inadvertently trying to hint at that with my previous post about turbo kits doing it a lot cheaper, but i 100% agree. :)

if they want to waste spend money on something that achieves the same results for a lot more money, let them go for it!

if i spending that lil extra money increases the life of my lisence then im all for it,turbo ill have that blow of sound, supercharger wont, and a sc14 is only a small toyota supercharger.

    • Even more fun, leave all the ADAS stuff plugged in, but in different locations, hopefully avoid any codes!   And honestly, all these new cars with their weird electronics. Pull all the electronics out Duncan, and just shove an aftermarket ECU and if needed a trans controller in, along with a PDM. Make it run basic but race car styled!
    • To follow up a question from earlier too since I had the front bar off again (fking!) This is what is between the bumper and the drivers side wheel And this is the navigator side, only one thing but its a biggy! So basically....no putting coolers in the wheel arches without a lot of moving other stuff. Assuming I move to properly race prepping this car I'll take that job on and see how the computers respond to removing a whole bunch of ADAS modules
    • So I prepped the car for another track day on Wednesday (will be interesting to see coolant temps post flushing out and the larger reservoir, with a forecast of 3-14 being 20o cooler than last time I took it out). Couple of things to mention; since I am just driving the car and not taking a support vehicle, I took the rear seats out and just loaded the back up Team Trackday style. Look at all that space! To cover off removing the rear seat....it is weird (note the hybrid is probably different because it wouldn't have folding rear seats) Basically, you remove the lower seat base, very similar to a r series but it is a clip that pulls forward to release the base rather than it being bolted down. Easy Then, you need to remove the side section of the rear seat on each side. There is a 14mm head nut at the bottom of the side piece, the it slides upwards off a hook at the top to release; you also need to unhook the seatbelt from the loop at the top. Then the centre piece is weird. You need to release/fold the seats forward with the tab in the boot on each side From there, there are 2,x12mm headed bolts holding the rear of each seat to the folding bracket, under the trim between the rear seat and the boot (4x christmas tree clips there, they suck). The seat is out but you can see where the bolts attach to the bracket
    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
