I am trying to get a R33 blue slipped. Currently has a pod on it and mechanic tells me I need to get a standard air box. Can anyvbody tell me if a Pod Filter cold air induction box will pass or does it need to be the factory original set up.

You need to track down a standard air box with filter or go and do a drive by noise test and have the car engineered.

I'd just find a standard air box. :O Check the ads on here as there is always someone wrecking a R33 or call Just Jap in Sydney, I found them very helpful.

Hey thanks guys appreciate it. I'll try to get a standard air intake. Had a bloke try to rip me off last night over one. He said I could borrow one provided I would give him $350.00 deposit and he would return $310.00 when I bought it back trouble was he wouldn't give me a reciept or anything for the money.

Beware of Ron May from Beresfield.

Seems a bit dodgy to me

Make a box yourself, if you need ill make you a template, where do you live, if you need a hand PM me and we might be able to work something out.

I charge by time, for every 15 minutes I charge 1 can of Jim Beam.

My charge to make a template is 1 x can of Jim Beam.

Also delete the name, that is a NO NO, never name someone as that is bad ju ju, if someone wants to know about someone else PM them the info, otherwise it is called slander

Hey mate, you can get it blue sliped, cover the pod with one from just jap or make one yourself, bring it down to my work and see if my boss will pass it. PM me for adress. I just got my 33 done off him so ill try asking him 4 you. Make sure the rest of the car is sweet, ie tyres lights ect. Cheers, BTW it will set you back $110 for the blue slip for the imported vehicle, you will also need a copy of the customer infromation slip. Which has all your specs for the car, you should have been given this paperwork from either the dealer or owner depending on where oyu got it. Without these you wont be able to get a blue slip.

Peeps, I think we should have a standard set of everything which members can borrow. I had a standard AIR BOX and I gave it away for free to clean my garage.....(silly me!). We most of people replace those in upgrades and give them away cheap. Once you have the blue slip you put back your pod.... I am sure of that!

Eug.

    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.

    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
