well i changed my fuel injectors out because nissan said it was running rich, that fixed part of my power issue, now it seems my timing is off 5 degrees its at 25 instead of 20 and h have maxed out my CAS clock wise trying to get it to 20 degrees. is this off far enough to cause my power loss at high rpm? if so, do i need to pull the motor to change out the timineg belt ? what is the time im looking at to fix this myself ?

the only way for it to be out is if the cam wheel has slipped, been installed incorrectly, or has aftermarket cam gears..

you do not have to pull the motor out, however doing the timing belt, although not difficult, is one of the largest jobs you can do on your car.. and requires a bit of knowledge about it and some specialist tools.. timing belts are not an area you want to get wrong, or pull down again to fix something.. a simple belt change could mean death for the engine.

pull the cam belt cover off and line up the timing marks, it will only need to be out 1 tooth to be 5 degrees out.. which can be a simple fix by getting the belt slack in the right place... sometimes when the belt is installed, it appears right, but when running it can stretch and settle in and be a little bit out.. this is why aftermarket belts like gatres, hks, and greddy are worth the money, they dont stretch.. prick to put on, but worth it.

to do it yourself, and do it with care... it will take the better part of a day.. and its a good time to change drive belts, and water pump.. if you wanna be fussy, do your cam and crank seals aswell.

i thought nissans ran at 15 degrees at idle?? speaking of idle... what is your idle set at??

mate it's no good saying all nissans are 15degrees at idle. nissan make a wide variety of engines. RB26s are 20 BTDC at idle. for example S13 SR20 is 15. RNN14 SR20 is 20. so even the same engine has different base timing in different models/configurations.

apart from that, it's all sound advice.

my rb26 should be at 20 BTDC, right now its 25. its advanced 5 degrees, i cant retard it any more with my CAS, so im thinking the belt slipped or something. i have only had the car for 3 months .. i dont know if it has aftermarket cam gears. im just wondering if 5 degrees is enough for me to have shitty topend power? it feels like i only boost up to 5500rpm maybe 6. i changed my AFM's and fuel injectors (it was running rich) now its the timing my issue?

    • Yep, the closest base tune available was for the GTT, I went with that and made all the logical changes I could find to convert it to Naturally Aspirated. It will rev fine in Neutral to redline but it will be cutting nearly 50% fuel the whole way.  If I let it tune the fuel map to start with that much less fuel it wont run right and has a hard time applying corrections.  These 50% cuts are with a fuel map already about half of what the GTT tune had.  I was having a whole lot of bogging when applying any throttle but seem to have fixed that for no load situations with very aggressive transient throttle settings. I made the corrections to my injectors with data I found for them online, FBCJC100 flowing 306cc.  I'll have to look to see if I can find the Cam section. I have the Bosch 4.9 from Haltech. My manifold pressure when watching it live is always in -5.9 psi/inHg
    • Hi My Tokico BM50 Brake master cylinder has a leak from the hole between the two outlets (M10x1) for brake pipes, I have attached a photo. Can anyone tell me what that hole is and what has failed to allow brake fluid to escape from it, I have looked on line and asked questions on UK forums but can not find the answer, if anyone can enlighten me I would be most grateful.
    • It will be a software setting. I don't believe many on here ever used AEM. And they're now a discontinued product, that's really hard to find any easy answers on. If it were Link or Haltech, someone would be able to just send you a ECU file though.
    • Yes sir am asking is there possible way from aem tuner from wiring pins
    • Have you checked cam to crank timing and confirmed balancer marks are correct?
