Pulling the ATTESSA fuse trick is fatal in 33's, whatever you do don't do it. the 33gtrs you've seen most likely run an E-TS (electronic torque split) controller (HKS Kansai $650ish, Ruzic Engineering $470, GRID, FIELD etc.). I wouldn't recommend linelockers as it would put a stress on the ATTESSA system when it tries to put the power to the front with the rears spinning.

thanks, so if i get a torque split controller and divert as much power to the rears as possible i shld b ok? i am running drag radials as well which require some cooking to perform well

In one word no, even though you can split to more of the torque to the rear wheels, it doesn't make it rear wheel drive. It's a good way to destroy your transfer case doing this! This has been covered before for people wanting to run their 33 GTRs on a 2WD dyno. The torque split controllers do exactly that, control your torque split to the front wheels, not turn it completely off. The 33 attesa system is completely different to the 32 one. What you might have seen is one with a modified transfer case that they manually using a hydraulic pump ie apply pressure to the case ie no pressure 2 wheel drive, pump the pressure up and you have 4 wheel drive. The only way you can truly get it into rear wheel drive only without modifying anything is to pull the front drive shaft out.

Unless you are going to use drag radials or slicks then I wouldn't bother

according to the service manual you can select 2wd mode by disconnecting the connector to the lower right of the das with the ignition on...then depressing the brake pedal....x amount of times within 10 seconds...then 4wd light flashes a few times to confirm....I will try to find the factory process if anyone is interested..

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
