I was just about to buy a set of Tanabe Sustec Pro NF Coilovers. The supplier came back to me asking if I have Hicas or not, apparently if you have Hicas the coilovers can rub on some of the machs.

I am still to establish wether or not I have Hicas or not, however I am under the impression that if the car has Hicas there is a dash light which will come on when you turn the ignition. There is no Hicas light on my dash, so unless the bulb has blown I am assuming I don't have it.

I have had both gtst's and gtr's with Hicas, and there is always a dash light on ignition.

Any-one had any experience with any of the above

Hi Nick

If your car has HICAS you will have a light that comes on with ign.

You can see the HICAS control on the back of your rear sub frame. When looking under from the back it looks kind of like a wiper motor blocking the view of the diff. Mabye you could google and get a picture.

Completely off topic, unless you have something rare you mispelt Stagea in your profile :ninja:

Only a few of the models had HICAS, it's not a common features except for the

If you want to make double sure you could probably get someone to FAST the VIN Number and confirm if HICAS was factory fitted.

Thanks, there is no light and nothing blocking the diff. Suspension and hubs all look ok. Don't think I have Hicas.

Its like a disease

Seems as though the 250t with Hicas also had a bodykit, I have no body kit therefore I have no Hicas

yeah just take a photo and we can tell you

also, i have the body kit and i DONT have hicas. then again i have an RX and hicas wasnt an option. it was on RS. ARX all have them, and AXIS im not sure

OK, I will look for the pump thing and take a photo. Thanks

no no i know wat it looks like...

well near the diff area a massive plug looking thing...

Can someone with HICAS please post up a pic so us less HICAS-ologists have a better understanding of what to look for or be prepared not to see under our stags. . .

Maybe this will help........

Sorry the quality is pretty crap but it will give you the idea.

If you follow the exhaust towards the middle of the picture, you will see the anti vibration thingy (round piece of metal) and then just above the that is the black cylinder with a Nissan sticker. This is the electric motor of the HICAS. It connects on the right to the gearing that changes the angel of the rear wheels with the turn up to 1.5 degrees.

Cheers

Andy

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
