hey guys

should have done this ages ago and have been really slack but here goes

had my 32 gtst for a while now

the suspension was real low so when it was up on the hoist i raised it up a fair bit and also replaced the rack boots on both sides as they were both split

we also removed the crap that had built up with some inox and a rag and wiped them down, chucked the boots on and then raised the suspension after and put some slotted rotors on too. we measuered the amount of thread we had on both sides and reset it back to that after.

i have yet to had an alignment, yes i know im slack, but the car gets driven once or twice a week at most and have been really busy with uni (i live on campus so dont need to drive)

so what happens now is the wheel is even more off centre (i put that down to removing the rack ends and replaceing them) but there is also a fair bit of play in the steering (maybe 10 or 20 degrees) but only while moving and its less noticable at carpark speeds. And its better when the car is cold

Could it be the alingment? or lack of grease? worn rack? or what?

i've held the wheels and had someone turn the steering wheel to look for something loose but cant see anything, i havent crawed under the car yet as its been raining, but will do asap.

Please help

Thanks

Tom

get a wheel alignment done first..... and pay the extra for a full camber/caster and toe adjustment......dont pay 40$ for a toe and go alignment coz it wont help anything....

did u count the exact amount of turns u undid the rack ends? and put them bak on the exact number of turns also??

anyway answer is wheel alignment

not really and we were in a bit of a hurry and it goes against everything i say to ppl but i just wanted to get it done

just want to check that i haven't screwed the rack cos there was no play in it before and i found it strange that adjusting the height could affect this

cool

thats what i want to hear

p/s belt snapped today (thank got the water pump is on a different belt)

was on the highway so i didn't really notice (didn't hear anything which was strange)

so will get that fixed up asap too

just a question about driving without p/s, should it be really hard to turn while moving?

and could i have damaged anything without having the p/s running? (prob did about 30kms of driving with it snapped)

    • Hi guys, just after some guidance with an R34 sunroof that has stopped working correctly. It still opens and closes perfectly fine, but it no longer tilts/vents up or down. As a result, the rear of the glass now sags a bit as it drops down slightly in order to retract into the roof, but now it can't pop upwards into a flush position. I’ve probed the pins on the back of the switch connector with a multimeter and it seems like both switches (for open/close and tilt/vent) still work correctly. Any ideas on what it could be, or where I should even start in terms of diagnosing? I'm sure someone's had this issue before but I haven't been able to find anything online relating to this specific issue, most of the issues are with the seals leaking or the motor failing entirely. Thanks in advance!
    • Do you have some data like fuel pressure? It's really hard to say if you're still fighting a fuel system issue at this point. Could be something weird like the FPCM dipping out.
    • Yeah in that case, pulling the dent out. Event a very slight dent can create a lot of work filler-wise and there is a strong chance the panel won't be the factory shape when you are done (as the dent will result in a new high point created somewhere, then everything is brought up to that new high point... but the panel shouldn't be that high if that makes sense).  So you've filled and primed the panel and it is flat, why would you go back and remove the primer and add more filler?
    • Something else I have been faffing with while the car was off the road is making the AC work. Assuming the car isn't at a thermal limit the idea of having AC while waiting in line to go on track sounds delightful. I have actually been lugging around the weight of the entire system since 2018 when the RB25NEO went in without it working at all.  The main reason was in the first few events before I got around to re-gassing it the rubber hose that runs under the manifold had the factory heat wrap/sleeve fail resulting in this: ~2 years ago I purchased a complete used R32 AC line set but when I finally went to install it the line i needed was different where the expansion section is I found a local place that was able to replace the rubber section and re-crimp. They also added some modern heat sleeve to the hose Tight fit but fingers crossed this is the last physical piece of the puzzle needed
    • the top black section is bonded to the silver section with some form of rubber. I assume to isolated NVH from the box
