anyone seen whiter/brighter HIGH beam globes for sale? mine are not bright enough for out here in the bush :D

got whiter globes in the low beam and really tell the difference when switching from high to low beam!!!

Does anyone have any technical (non-marketing) info on these?

Rezz, running 90w globes in place of the standard ones is risky as the stock wiring isn't rated to carry that load. It'd also be inconsiderate and illegal to run them as your normal beam. 90w as high beam with upgraded wiring is a good idea though and less likely to be targeted.

Craved, high beam globes are the same as low beam globes. If uprated globes for high beam aren't enough for country driving, look at dedicated driving lights.

I suspect these Raybrig lights are similar to the current range of xenon halogen globes most lighting manufactures have out. They aren't standard replacements so you'll have to ask for them by name. eg Philips VisionPlus.

Grandenko, thanks very much for that, I overlooked the wattage rating.

But I understood (with the Raybrig globes) that 90w was when hi-beam is on? Usually the globes are 55w on lo-beam...?

Just wondering about cars like the R33 which have a separate globe for the high beam! is there a straight 90w option for these as they would have to be different ratings as the low beam lights turn off when they come on! therefore for our cars the low and high beam are not the same globes!

hehe, dont really think driving lights would suit the skyline :D

any suggestions?

Craved, Raybrig say the RR15`s are for the "4 headlight" cars as well... I guess that means R33`s.

so they only sell the one globe for 4 headlight cars? what does the plug for the lights look like? are they normal single blade fitting? or tri blade?

Guys, guys...

Forgive me if I`m wrong, but aren`t there 2 elements in each globe? If your car has only one globe per headlight, on low-beam, the 50-odd watt element lights up... and on high-beam, the 90 watt whatever element lights up?

I understood that if you wanted these "HID type" halogens on a 4-headlight car, you have to decide whether you want to upgrade the low-beam or high-beam...

Am I wrong? I`ve only ever seen these Raybrigs on my brothers PAS trophy winning Toyota LiteAce (which is a 2 headlight van) and they were normal wattage on low-beam, and a higher wattage on high-beam.

In the R33, they are 4 headlight: 2 on low beam, other 2 on high beam! low beam lights are definately only single element lights, so would assume the same with high beam as only one on at a time eg 2 outside lights on on low beam, 2 insides lights only on high beam!! therefore the globes must be of different output wattage!

ps did you get my email Rezz?

Are you sure they're not the same wattage? Just angled higher?

Because i want to purchase Phillips Blue Vision H1 55W for the low-beams, they come with the parkers. Then a set for whatever the High-beams are, and also find out what bulbs i need for the lights in the front bar of the Series II, cause i always drive with them on, and they'd need to match.

Sorry, what I meant by "high beam globes are the same as low beam globes" is that both low and high beam use the same type of globes - H1. There are seperate globe holders/lamp assemblies for each and they both use H1 55w globes. The only difference, funnily enough, is that the high beam lamp is physically aimed higher than the low beam lamp. 90w bulbs for the high beam lamp would be a good idea though, along with the required wiring upgrades.

Rezz, I think you're talking about H4 globes, they have 3 pins and 2 filaments of different wattages. Some cars use a H1 for high beam and a H4 for low/high beam.

hey, are those lights on the front bar actually giving off light, or just looking nice!!! if it was to look good, try following this thread to make them look real nice and white!!

Do you know what would need to be upgraded to run higher wattage high beams lights? also i haven't seen brighter lights in higher wattage in normal shops!

Ryan D didn't seem to have any issues, he's saying that he was running 90W in his car!

interested to see what comes of this though! also is there any lights about say 70W or so, something brighter, but not enough to blind oncoming traffic!!

You'd have to speak to an auto electrician or car audio installer about wiring upgrades. Its just higher gauge +ve cable run via a relay and a new earth. Ask them about the risks of running 90w globes in place of standard 55w globes.

I really would leave high wattage globes for high beams only.

Yourve all confused the shit out of each other for no reason,

The R33's lights, both low and high beam are h1 type

lowbeam = 55w

high beam = 90w

the wiring is suited to this, even more wattage if wanted.

If yourve got an R33 just get two packs and replace all the lights.

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day
    • While I was waiting for the new parts to come in for the charge pipe and radiator I decided to do some turbo modification. The drive pressure (exhaust backpressure) was a lot higher that I thought it should be. For 32lbs of boost drive was 55lbs. The turbine housing is a 1.10AR and my turbo builder has suggested to go to a 1.25AR. To test if a larger AR would do anything to reduce drive pressure AND not spend any money I decided to hog out the divider in my current housing. I removed it from the inlet and the whole way through the housing.  After reassembly and testing it doesn't look like this modification did anything for reducing drive pressure or requiring more fuel (making more power). Oh well, it was worth a shot. We'll get some data at the track if it makes it past the 60ft. I also machined a $7 shift knob off Amazon to fit my Stillway shifter since I didn't like the Stillway shift knob. Next on the list was the radiator replacement and fabrication of a new intercooler tube that had no silicon coupler. No pictures of this - I was short on time each night after work to get this done and didn't stop to take pictures.  Next was to get the clutch disks out and replaced. Previously when installing the dogbox I had ordered a set of the same sintered iron disks I had been running because I switched to the 26-spline input shaft. I thought it was odd that they didn't have any markings or brand name on them like all my old disks had but installed them anyway. At the track I could not get the clutch to lock up using my normal strategies. After two track nights I reached out to the clutch manufacturer and ask their thoughts. They said they had to switch the material out because they were having trouble getting the original material and that this new material would not take to being slipped very well.  So out with the first set of 26-spline disks and in with the correct material 26-spline disks. While I had the trans out I added an inspection/service hole. I've wanted one of these for a while. Now I can have a look at things and change the front cover shimming when needed (clutch wear). I hustled and got the clutch change done in a few hours on a Saturday. Hopped in the car and drove home. On the way home I did a 1-3 pull. When shifting from 2nd to 3rd the core plug in the back of the cylinder head popped out and dumped all the coolant. Thankfully I was only 30 seconds from home and coasted it there. Datalog showed nothing unusual and 2.5psi of coolant pressure. That plug has been in there since 1992 but I guess it worked its way out. Pulled the trans AGAIN and replaced the plug, JB welded it in, and made a brace. Also deleted the head drain I had added in during the bearing issue fiasco.  I am currently changing my boost control plumbing to make it cleaner. After that is done I'll make another attempt at getting past the 60.
    • Are you 100% sure this isn't tune related?
    • 140-150 across the board. At this point hoping the grounding harness fixes it. My grounds are all tied to the chassis and none to the battery. For SR and KA that’s never been a problem for me but had a few other guys here and Reddit who told me RB really like a very solid ground setup tied to the battery so going to try that next, I’m stumped if that doesn’t do it. Never had a car have spark and fuel and not fire off before. Only thing I can think is the spark is intermittent/weak because of grounds nothing else really makes sense at this point
    • I am having close to the same issue. Can you help me with what wire you grounded to get your pump to trigger?
