That for a first car p-plater? hmm, i don't think thats so good idea.

yes, you can get fined for driving over the power-weight limits, and people regularly do, same with driving a manual on an auto licence. Its around a $100 fine, and loss of 1point i think it is.

Technically as well, the insurance shouldn't cover you as you're not licensed to drive the car - however many people do and make claims successfully. Depends on the accident and situation I think.

I had 250,000+ km on my old RB31 and it was still ticking over.. So if its anything the same for RB25's, then you've got a heap of life in it. Its going to be of course hard to find something to compare with an R33 though, there aren't even that many that have supposedly done over 100,000km.

Really its too hard to say, as the clocks can be wound back, they can have largely different histories or lives, big turbos could have been taken off in Japan before it was shipped to australia, etc. Its all too varied and hard to tell for sure, unless you look at each car on its merits.

Some have done a genuine 64,000km or whatever in 10 years.. some read that and would have easily done double.

One way to check is to check the timing belt cover. If the belt has been changed there will be some sort of stamp indicating the 100,000km service (unusual if the odometer reading only 50,000!), but of course that could have been rubbed off, etc so its not definitive guide.

Another way is just to check the interior and things for signs of scratches, worn carpet, worn seats, etc. Obviously if everything is looking pristine its probably fairly close to the odometer.

Personally, i'd just be looking for one that checks out properly by a mechanic, looks like as good as what you want, and completely ignoring the kms.

    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
