Hey Guys

New guy here from sydney, currently driving a 94 honda prelude.

Finally registered here and happy to join you bunch of helpful guys by the looks of it.

I have been doing my research for v35's on here and g35driver.

I have decided the colour i am looking for is white, manual transmission, premium edition ofcourse.

But what i still cant seem to decide on is if i would settle for a 03/04 or 05 model.

I just love the look of the brembo brakes (would not be going to the track), and i do prefer the oem wheels on the 03/04 model than the 05 19" Rays.

But then we have the dash and console of the 05 looking alot better than the 04

Hopefully by checking both models in person, it will help me decide.

decisions decisions.......

Anybody here gone up to a series 2 model from a series 1? what were your thoughts?

Also if anyone can recommend a trustworthy importer who always has some stock that would be great!

all I can say is look VERY closely at the car.

also look at the latest car you can. the earlier ones do have niggles and most of them are electrical.

I helped a fellow buy a car a few weeks back who was asking similar questions to you. we looked at 3 cars and settled on the third.

my suggestion is have a fridge magnet handy to run over the car and if it falls off look at another car. then go to a certain palce in taren point\caringbah for your car :P (nagoya motors)

what you are looking for is a 70th aniv. version. prepare to pay at least $35k for a good example.

Mate, i've just gone through the exact same thing.

Decided I wanted a white 6-speed from the start and it took a couple of months before i found a suitable one at auction.

It seemed like 70% of the CPV35s were silver... and most of the nice white ones were auto.

Go for a newer model if you can find one that you can afford. They have less issues.

If you only like the "looks" of the brembos that can be easily fixed. If you prefer the oem 18s to the 19s I will be the first to put my hand up and swap with you :P

on a serious note take Chris's advice and look for the newest model you can find. the older interior does not do the car any justice and + 1 for Nagoya Motors. I got my series 2 from there. Speak to no one but Alex.

thanks for the replies

chris: first time ive heard about running a magnet across the car. whats that for?

and i will definately be coming to you to help me with instaling some goodies lie the nav system/ipod etc

xscape237: your car loos hot in your pic, post some pics up if you dont mind. how do you find the ride with bigger aftermarket rims/lowered?

n15m0: yes i do only like the looks of the brembos, what are my options?

Hey mate, I was exactly the same boat as you, but really wanted the 19s and sunroof along with white and manual premium.

The brembos put you between a rock and a hard place because to get the series 2 you cant get the brembos, and the series 2 interior IMO is a solid step up. My advise would be (as I did) let the brembos slide in favour of the newer car, I don't hit the track and it sounds like you wouldn't either, in which case they really are just for looks and arent worth sacrificing the series 2 for.

Mind you... those 19s sure would look a lot better with a set of brembos behind them

Im getting rid of my R34 soon, and looking at investing ( bad word i know ) in a V35.

Also looking for a Manual with Sunroof. Colour doesnt really matter i guess.

Im thinking between Brembo's or Series 2 Interior.

.. I came to this conclusion ..

If i buy a series 1, its gonna' be a headache trying to make it look like a series 2.

.. Whereas i buy a Series 2, and can always pay the money to upgrade the brakes .

So, in conclusion..

Series II

Manual

Sunroof

Bose system preferred i guess, but i always change my audio gear so it really doesnt matter to me.

Any colour. And hopefully with leather interior :D

Dont mind the rims, can always fix that up :bunny:.

.. Another side question, do most V35 drivers get hassled my police for having a "Skyline", because i've been bugged numerous times in my R34, and it really pisses me off, and makes me resent buying a Skyline to begin with if i cant enjoy it in peace and not worry about " Thursday night. or Saturday night blitz's "

good for finding panel damage. its either going to stick or not stick. not sticking=bad.

I'm still waiting to pick up the car, so cant tell you what the ride is like just yet.. im expecting to take delivery later this week.

FWIW Its running 20" wheels and is on the nismo s-tune suspension but with RSR springs, so I dont expect it to be too comfy..

Love your wheels, what are they? Gives it a bit of the euro/vip look.

Hey wB,

FYI, a dealer might have one in stock but if you found what you wanted we could get you the 03/04 model for a bit cheaper, around the 30K mark, and it only takes a few weeks to get here and comply. These usually reatil between 33-35K on a showroom floor.

This might be a dumb question, but doesn't the V35 have an aluminium bonnet - so at least there the magnet isn't going to stick? Something to keep in mind when doing this check on newer cars which have aluminium panels...

    • Apologies for the long post, but needed somewhere to lay out the entire timeline of events and actions taken:   I've got an 89 GTR with a R34 RB in it. It's been running great all year, driven probably 500KM in the last month. It's not my daily driver, just a weekend fun car.    Build info: R34 RB26 - HKS 2.7 stroker kit, HKS adjustable cam gears, HKS turbo upgrades, Trust intercooler, R34 factory DENSO 440cc injectors, JUN chipped/tuned R32 ECU. All of this work was performed in Japan back in 2019.    Thursday 10/2/25 - It's a nice day and decided I'll drive it to work, I start it up in the garage and I notice it took a few extra cranks and sounded a bit funny. I figure maybe it was just because it was a pretty chilly morning. I pull it out into the driveway to warm up a bit before leaving. As I leave the driveway, it feels very off and sounds like a misfire. I pull it back in the garage to deal with after work and take the daily to work. I was able to diagnose it as a cylinder 5 misfire with the old spark plug test (unplugging each plug until a sound change with the engine running). I take off the whole ignition system, ignitor, plugs, spark. *Important note, it is still on the R32 ignition system with the separate ignitor system. I test each system with a multi-meter and nothing presents as a smoking gun. I put it all back together and it starts up no issue. I go ahead and order the PRP R35 ignition conversion kit. It should arrive today (10/13/25)   Friday 10/3/25 - Another nice day, car starts up great and drives great all day. Very pleased that everything seems to be OK   Sunday 10/5/25 - Decided I'll take it to play some golf, load up and drive to the course about 25 minutes away. Drives wonderful the whole way there, I pull in the parking lot and the engine completely comes to a stop. I do not recall if it sputtered at all, but just remember all of the sudden the engine was off. I roll it into a parking spot, try to crank it back on and nothing.  It'll crank and crank and not even try to start. End up getting it towed back to my house and push it up into the garage.    Items I have checked: Fuel in the tank Fuel Pump relay Fuel pump fuse  Spark Plugs & gap Coil packs Ignitor    I know the cylinders are getting fuel as the plugs smell like fuel after a start attempt. I tried spraying starter fluid into the manifold and cranking and not even a sputter.    I decided to do the live CAS test (removing the the CAS, ignition on and spinning the CAS stalk to see if the injectors pulse and spark is active). All of the injectors were pulsing and I have spark at the plug. The half-moon end of the CAS did seem very loose, I'm not sure how much play is supposed to be there, but it was more than I expected. There was no in/out play of the shaft, just the tip end that is pinned on had quite a bit of play.    CAS Play video   When I put the CAS back in, I stupidly did not re-time the engine. I know I need to do that tonight, however, I do not think it will start given it seemingly was not the issue. My plan is to do the PRP R35 coil kit and retime the engine at the same time.    I plan on ordering the Haltech Nexus Plug-in ECU once they are available again, but ideally would like to get this sorted before firing the parts cannon at it and potentially adding more variables.    Anything glaring that I am missing here, I'm a bit at a loss?
