Hey all,

I'm looking at buying a greddy profec b spec II boost controller.

Just wondering if any of you here have one? If so, what are your thoughts and do you have any pics of yours installed?

Anyway, I'm stuck choosing between either black or silver!? I think would prefer black but im not really a fan of the gold text on it, especially the huge logos on the top. (Yes, i guess im very picky - especially when it comes my car!)

I have always had my boost controllers mounted just behind the steering wheel. Again, any pics that would influence my decision either way would be appreciated, espcially if you have it installed behind the wheel of a 33!

Cheers!

Mate, I've seen this sort of thread a few times now - have a search!

But anyway, I run one in my 32 and one in my stag, no dramas and a good bit of kit (read: hasn't done me wrong yet).

It might be better to have it hidden to help keep the cops off your back.

hey bro, i got one installed myself. its running from underneath my headunit were the ash tray is... they are very good little unit. holds boost good and controls it good.

mines black. Somtimes if you get some coppers they might know what it is... they can find your solenoid in your engine bay and stuff. i chose black cos its more stealthier..

i got a black one as well! i guess it goes with the interior of the car whilst the silver one would contrast and stand out?

i got mine stuck below the dash above my left leg.

they easy to play around with as well as the place i got it installed did 14psi for high boost which now i've changed to 12psi.

i saw a mates one today and it looked even better that it did in some of the pics i've seen.

leaning towards black.

i like the silver and blue, but dont know if it would look a tad cheap in the flesh? i've never seen one so cant make an informed judgement :)

hey mate, thanks heaps for the pic :)

+1 for black.

Only drama i have with mine is it doesn't beep anymore when it counts down and over boosts :D Can't figure out if it's a setting or something doesn't work anymore.

i've had both black and silver in the same car. I think I like the black a bit better but they both look good. if you're after one I may actually have one FS.

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
