Ok Ive done a search on tapping noises but I dont think they could answer my question. So yeah, I did a full block rebuild on my 33 at the start of the year, also had the clutch replaced.

About a month ago it was making a tapping noise from the rocker cover, so i took it back to the rebuilders when it was due for a service and they told me it was something touching one of the belts, they fixed it and it went away.

But I've noticed a different tapping noise recently, more noticable at cold start and only at idle.

The wierd thing is that when I place my foot on the clutch, even very slightly, the noise completely disappears. If I step the clutch in, theres no noise.

Now Im not too worried about it but it is annoying and I dont want it to become something bigger than it is.

Is this pointing towards my clutch having problems? I replaced my old one with an Exedy heavy duty 6 months ago. I feel like if my clutch pedal could be adjusted even slightly to push in, the noise wouldnt be there but i hav no idea how to get that done.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ben

Ben, bring your car around and I'll have a listen. Does your engine idle speed change at all when you do the clutch thing to stop the noise?

If so, it could be a resonance at a certain engine speed.

If not, then I would say your thrust bearing is on it's way out, or an idler bearing in the gearbox.
