Fuel Gauge Problems R34

sorry to annoy all but im having a problem with my fuel gauge

my car is a stock r34 no mods !

i had half a full tank and drove 20 kilomtres and the car was almost on empty, i then filled up another 20 dollars fuel just to see and it took the gauge on 3qts full and then whilst i was driving roughly 2 kilometres the guage kept changing from 3qtr full to 1 qtr full i then had a stop over for an hour !

when i drove off the fuel gauge was roughly were it should of been and didnt move from there for the 30 kilomtre journey back home.

does anyone know what the problem is ?

if it is a fuel gauge problem how is this fixed ?
