RubyRS4
Just checking to see if anyone from Adelaide is going to head on over to the Victorian (Phillip Island) V8 Supercars race over the 11th-13th September weekend? Either as a spectator or working? I'm working in the pits and I'll be all by my lonesome Organising accommodation and travel now ... if anyone is going also and hasn't made plans yet, sharing accommodation might be cheaper ... as well as transport over. I might see about campsite options at the PI track and fly the SAU banner If anyone has any marshalling/race official experience, and would like to work at the V8 Supercars, PM me and I'll fill you in on the job required (and see if you'd be suitable), then I'll put you in contact with my boss for the event to apply. I'll be managing an entire garage or two (one/two teams) and I/we might need the support from experienced marshalls. Anyone interested must be available on the Friday 11th for training ... we will not have time to train you over the weekend. Even if you have marshalling experience, you still need training. And you will need to name your V8 drivers by face/helmet & suit. I'm brushing up on my V8 drivers knowledge this week Edited July 27, 2009 by RubyRS4 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/280871-motorsport-whos-into-v8-supercars/ Share on other sites

RubyRS4
Recover from WRC by working V8s (hint, hint). At MotoGP I do paddock marshalling, pitlane (race control), and trackside (recovery and flag control). I get rotated around, because I'm apparently useful in all areas, and numbers from area to area are up or down each year. I get given a mic and walkie, a handful of 'rookies' and given tasks for the day. It varies alot depending on circumstances. Mostly my job involves keeping areas clear for riders ... especially in pit lane ... that includes bossing media and teams around Been doing this 8 years now At WSBK, its pretty much the same as above. Done WSBK 2 years now. At V8 Supercars, I get a whole garage (or two) to manage. Thats 1 or 2 teams which I scrutineer the whole weekend. I record their pit stops and tyre changes. Rules in pitlane for Supercars is quite strict. I'm the guy the teams love or hate, because I basically have the power to disqualify a team if they do not meet the pitlane requirements/limits. If a car comes in busted, it MUST have all loose/broken bits removed or secured. MUST not be leaking any fluids. I see anything I don't like, I point and "insist" on it being fixed. And I must record all this and report it to Race Control. Most of the guys I'll be working with I've worked with at MotoGP and WSBK, so I'll have some help on hand if needed. I got offered this job because someone thinks I'm a hard worker My motorsport portfolio is really getting weighty. I really wanna get back into next season's motorcycle racing ... but all this work (3 trips to PI a year now) is putting me on the wrong side of the tyre wall. And using up my track budget. I love working as a race official, but I also like cutting a few quick laps myself you know. We'll catch up soon Jess and swap petrolhead stories eh?
