Definitely do an EOI for Motorvation seeing as GTST VSPEC gave that the go ahead. See who is interested.

Its a car show with lots of driving events available, doesn't mean you have to do them. Even if its a bit of a waste.

As said, we would need 6+ members definites. Heaps of people apply and then get told by 10th of December if they are giving a month gap between that and the show to orgainse the club display. Motorvation entry is a weird as for the last few years a V6 commodore with rims and lowered springs got picked over 400hp etc Skylines, supra's, silvia's. Due to what their taste at the motoplex. But like a R34 with standard body kit still looks killer. Just have nice wheels, lower car and neaten up the engine bay and interior. Worth a shot.

I am, and i'm not, i havent paid my fee's yet as i have lost the return email. secondly i am new to this and i feel a little resentment for saying it was a poor effort by the club?

Not enough interest by the club? well i dont even recall anyone here even organising/advertising so the members knew about properly it apart form this topic! It needs to be put where eveyone can see/read when they arrive at the site. I'm sure if more ppl knew about it and that some thing was being done the numbers woulda come. Even if we had 3 cars, still coulda of had signs saying where we are from to get the name out there, alot of WA skyliners out there that arnt members who would prolly love to be but dont know about us.

Just so we all know i've read the posts about us not having anything todo with the event etc etc still couldnt have stopped us from still trying, wasted opportunity at a really good event.

I feel i'm wasting my time trying to help ya's realise a point here.

I realise the event was not having club entry as an option, but is that to say we couldnt snatch an area and fend for ourselves Together?? silwa did, and yeah if suawa wont try represent next year i'll be joining the silwa crew, as they are a good bunch and was awesome fun! Just hope my car is ready :P

Ps: sweet, was a good effort you guys put in! was enjoyable and had many laughs haha.

Long and short of it dude is that SAU, officially, even SAUWA, doesn't actually do anything car related, we've probably got more paintballing events.... Buy a sticker, because they're cool, and then y'know... That's about the end of it.

Yeh, why not change that up a bit. SAUWA was big in like 05 with silWA combined cruises and stuff.

I don't mean to be rude, but the guys who run SAUWA have moved on a bit, we need some new blood for the club, and to run a few more car related events.

They still do cruises which is good. Go kart days are still happening. AHG/RAC skidpan days happen a fair bit. A few more drag days etc would be good.

You're a dick, and obviously don't know what you're talking about. Didn't see you at the driver training on Saturday, or your name down for the one in November ? Oh, that would involve driving :P

IMO, Powercruise and Motorvation are predominantly driving events. If you just want to put your car in a car show then go to AutoSalon.

Can't speak for PowerCruise, but MotorVation is more like a traffic jam than a driving event. I love driving events, but get alot more track time at RAC Driver Training and Wanneroo for the cost.

Powercruise was a traffic jam too but the point you made in WT about being able to race at Wanners every month for a year for the same price (the inflated price of a pit pass at Powercruise) is mute. These are big events and that is probably why they entice people to show off their cars in front of big crowds.

Personally, I will enter Powercruise next yeah just for the fun of it. It means I get to run people I wouldn't normally get to run, give the v8's a run for their money in the Powerskidz and have a good time along some friends that I wouldn't normally get to at a track.

I guess it's all about what you're into, just cause it's not my cup of tea doesn't mean SAUWA wouldn't support our members from having a Club Entry. I like MotorVation, have entered 3 times, and spectated numerous others, so I'm not interested in going again, but doesn't stop us putting in a club entry if there is the interest :P

As I said we'll happily support any events our members are interested in, but no point whinging we weren't there after the fact :D (Not directed at Bubba)

Well ill put up an EOI for Motorvation and if it happens it happens, if it doesn't then its no biggy, atleast people can't complain there was no effort.

Bard i would be interested in a Show n Shine, the only thing is wouldn't that pretty much just be a meet for SAUWA people lol? Wouldn't be many other people there. Not saying that is a bad thing, just that if we can't entice people to sign up for a huge event like Motorvation where there will be thousands of people, what are the chances of getting people to come and park their car on an oval somewhere? I suppose I would be interested though...

I don't think Brad's suggestion is something to try and rival MV, but a way to get lots of Skylines and other imports to one spot so people can checkout each others rides. Could possibly be combined with some other clubs, but details are still being worked out.

Oh yeh no, i wasn't saying we shouldn't do it because it won't be as big as MV. Was just saying that if it is only SAUWA that does it, then really it is just a get together... If we could involve some other clubs then that would be great! As i said, im definitely keen.

Paul just on the subject of Motorvation, you said SAUWA would put money into a group entry? Could you shoot me a PM about what this means and includes?

    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
    • My experience with Rising Sun Exports Before agreeing to the sale I tried to do as much research as I could (obviously), his Facebook reviews are 98% and he goes Live at least once or twice a week. I contacted 2 people in the UK who had used him for their imports, both had positive feedback. His explanation and talk through of the import process was thorough, answering any query no matter how stupid it was. It felt as soon as the money was sent, communication dropped off. I asked for shipping updates every 2 weeks or so, not wanting to pester him, he never had any updates. I wasn't informed the car had been dropped off at the port, I only found out by his Facebook story. I asked for the photos taken at the port, knowing he would need some for insurance purposes. I received a few 5 second clips and that's it. When asked again, he said his staff had them. Weeks later I asked again, he tells me he doesn't have any, but does have 50 photos from the original advert. I never received them. I eventually got the documents sent via WhatsApp after I mentioned the port was requesting them. I purchased a CarVX report, to find out the vehicle is a Grade R with recorded accident damage, first recorded in 2017 when it was first auctioned. He never told me the grade, then again I didn't ask. His response was "Grade R means nothing, it wasn't chassis damage". Still, I would have liked to have been informed about it. Jon prides himself on being open and honest when it comes to inspecting cars, it's his main job doing so at the auctions for customers. When the vehicle arrived in the UK I noticed a few little cosmetic issues. It's a 21 year old car so it wasn't going to be mint condition. The side skirts are cracked on each corner and the sealant is failing. The front grill on the bonnet/hood isn't secured very well, mounting studs are missing. Both minor things, but again, it would have been nice to be told. During a Facebook Live walk around video of the vehicle, he mentioned it has a front Whiteline anti roll bar/sway bar. While on the inspection ramp, I noticed the stock item has been installed. When first questioned, his response was "the ARB? Switched? Since when, it never had them". Since sending video and photo evidence I've not received a response. I'm probably being over critical of the overall condition of an old car, but all I wanted was honesty (which he claims to have). I'm aware I wasn't his only customer, he's busy doing XYZ but other reviews praise him for great communication with regular updates and photos, I felt I didn't receive the same treatment.
