whatsisname
I headed down to AIR tonight (06Dec) to lend a hand to Shaun, Ben & co as they were running the 'Boost Worx' backed yellow 2JZGTE powered Supra (ex-RPM car). Ben ran a string of low 11's @ over 127mph before finally getting the car to run closer to its potential with a PB of 10.8 @ 125+. The mph was down on the earlier passes as an IC hose blew off going into 3rd gear. The car should run closer to 10.4 with a few more tweaks. All passes were on ET Streets (DOT approved) I'm not sure if they qualify for the HPI Street Drag Challenge or not? I'm sure most will agree that the 2JZGTE is an awesome engine. Ben's Supra runs a dead stock internals 2JZ. Another car worth mentioning was the factory standard new 3.5L V6 Magna (base model) whose female driver ran back to back 14.8 - 14.7 mid 90mph passes (best of 14.7 @ 96mph). The only mod was a slight change to the air box feed. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/29343-boost-worx-jza70-supra-runs-108-125/ Share on other sites

NitRaTe
i love those 2jzgte engines. they are really awesome. I read that they can take 800hp on stock internals. whatsisname
In the US there are internally stock 2JGZTE JZA80 Supras into the low 9's. I have heard rumours that a couple are even into the 8's! whatsisname
Yeah mate sure have! I remember reading articles on the MKIV JZA80 Supra when it was first released in Japan. It was my #1 choice when I got interested in imports back in the early-mid 90's. They were a touch too expensive back then though Hence I got the Skyline instead. I've gone too far with the GTS to start again now Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/29343-boost-worx-jza70-supra-runs-108-125/#findComment-600603 Share on other sites

whatsisname
Hip, Brand new ET Streets & a good suspension aligning session made a huge improvement on the strip. ET Streets are a drag radial tyre made by Mickey Thompson. They're DOT approved which technically makes them street legal. "There's a simple way of identifying whether or not a tyre is legal for road use. If it has "DOT" or "E" written on the sidewall, it's passable - no probs. DOT is the US abbreviation for the Department of Transport, while "E" is the recognised European compliance symbol. Having said that, it wouldn't be unthinkable to get pulled over by the police for supposedly "bald tyres" - regardless of their technical legality." The car is with Boost Worx now as the mechanic linked with the car moved from RPM to set up his own workshop. So the car moved with him. Tim, I'd say traction would've been a huge factor in who hosed who on the street! Neither cars have/had a lot of traction on road rubber. Ben mentioned turning the tyres @ 180+ on the road. TIMMMAYYY
where this boost worx place at? I recall matt saying he was spinning in 5th gear with 3 people in the car just hitting boost... I know the suffered the same problem, but isn't that part of the game of having heaps of power???
