hi everybody this is my 1st post so please be kind lol,um where to start.......well i bought an r33 gtst series 1 a few months ago pretty cheap and noticed something was wrong with it the other week so i had it tested and a compression test on the engine found out its dying.

so i was either thinking of getting a 2nd hand engine and doing some mods or getting an r33 GTR engine and having that put in.

can you tell me what would be better doing?how much messing around would it be to put a GTR engine in and what would need to be done?

be waiting for your replies.

Hi Aleisha and welcome!

So sad to hear of something dying - even if it's an engine.

Perhaps you can PM "satanic" and talk to Stan about what he's done to his R34 GT-T (ie dropping a GT-R block in + all the fruit).

I wouldn't mind you sending me your Avatar so that I can use it in my hypnosis clinic hehe.

I've got a Subie too an XT - next to my 'Line

Its a bit more complicated that just pull the engine and drop a 26 in.

The wallet will be much easier off going with a rebuild on the RB25DET.

Typically, you'd find a GTR half cut, and swap in the engine, and all the other fruit, like bigger radiator, FMIC, brake's, etc.

Running an RB26 with 25 accessories is a bad idea.

welcome aleisha, your better off getting the 2nd hand RB25DET and doing it up.

it will cost you a fortune, for starters a gtr engine aint cheap and you will have to get alot of work done to get it running right.

you could easily get a 300rwkw gtst for the amount it would cost you to drop a gtr engine in your car and all the work that will have to get done.

I second this. When I was looking at skylines (obviously bought a 32 gtr though) I test drove some 33 gts-t's. There was this yellow series two in particular that I tested and it was freakin quick. Still retained the RB25, so I can definately vouch for its potential. From what I hear there is just too much trouble putting a gtr engine in for what its worth, it just sounds cool to say you have a gtr engine lol.

i was thinking of gettin this transplant done (r33 gtr rb26dett in r33 gtst )

why would this not be worth it? is it realy that much of a difficult conversion?

i would like to know wot is involved in gettin it fitted...i may hav an rb26 available from a mate for a good price :(

thanks

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
