Just a little update on how my Stag is travelling, Kidafa and Chef are on the phone to me a couple of times a week about it, I know they are hanging for some fresh info :)

I just got off the phone to the crash repairer, trying to organise a time for Kidafa, Chef and myself to pop in and have a look at the progress. Apparently everything that was damaged has been repaired, except for the alarm. Interestingly the thieves disabled the alarm (It no longer works.) and so I am booking it in to get another before I take it home. My guy to guy at the body shop told me that even the Masa genuine stuff is an absoloute nightmare to fit, I had it in direct comparison to the copy stuff, as I bought a copy rear bar to replace the irreparably transit damaged genuine item. Whilst the surface finish of the genuine items was much better to the naked eye, apparently there are still pinholes in the fibreglass which are causing dramas. Being that my body shop guys are perfectionists they are making sure that the finish is as close to factory a possible for me. That said, with just the new Front bar, Grill and Sideskirts to be put on (They have been 'repaired' and are going in for the first coat of primer today.), my body shop guy has told me he wants it for 1 more week. I'm sure most of you will understand how excrutiating waiting for your rig to be ready is, but hey, it's been over 13 months, so what's another week? :P

Chris and Adam, I have asked for him to call me as soon as the Bar and Sides are put on so that we can go and have a look, expect it to be mid week next week... hopefully!

In the meantime I have been collecting trinkets for the car every couple of weeks, including S2 Rear Lights, Nismo Clear Side Indicators, HKS FCD (Whilst I'm saving for the EMU), New apex'i filter, Nismo FPR, a new set of Rays Long Type Blue Nuts with Lock nuts and a second pair of Alpine Type - R splits for the rear. What with all the cleaning/polishing of the car that I'll have to do to the car when it comes back, I figure I'll be spending a solid 3 days getting to know her again... just what the doctor ordered :P

I can't wait to have her back, I'll post pics from the body shop adventure when it happens!

harts.

Sounds the goods. Cassanova's really do care about the work that comes out of the workshop dont they, which is good to hear.

I've got exams mon, tues and fri next week so lets try and make it either wed or thurs.

Can't believe its been 13 months with out the stag.....

Interesteing to hear about the fitment of the Masa stuff. I found the same thing with the GTR conversion guards. The quailty of the f/glass work is great, the best I have seen. As for fitment I had to fill the gap between the bonnet and guards as they were too big and a few pin holes. 100 million times better than the copy stuff form Viva.

Will be great to see it once your car is finished.

It was interesting to hear actually. It must be said that the body shop I go to hates working with fibreglass though, because they strive for a factory finish every time. I should also mention that he laughed at the quality of the Viva copy rear bar, apparently fitment was nightmarish, let alone finish! Still, Rear Bar was a damn sight cheaper than front :(

Hope they do not charge you too much. I estimate a good 30 hours in fitting and modifiying my viva rear bar. Lucky my time is free

Actually, I am not paying for the fitment of the kit, the insurance company is. But they re-negged on fitting the rear bar once they got the quote from my body shop, from memory prep and fit was around $1200 :( So it stays off until I can afford to fit it... I have to hurry up and finish my masters!

13 months???? surely that's not an entire 13 months in a repair shop?

assuming that 1 person works on it for 8 hrs a day for 11 months (this takes out holidays, some time the car spends waiting for paint to dry etc) at $50/hr (that's probably less than they charge), that's $22,000 in labour alone. either that should have been a write off, you're getting diddled on the time front, or they're absolutely killing themselves in undercharging...

i apologise if i've got the wrong end of the stick, but that's excessive...

at a guess i would say it has been 13 months since damage, ten there is sorting out insurance getting quotes, he insurance company being happy ordering the stuff waiting for the stuff to get here, booking the car in, waiting for them to have time to do it, work taking place etc etc. plus if was a someone crashed into you insurance could take longer if insurance company is chasing money from a 3rd party insurance company etc.

altho when you add the above figures up like you have you would hope its not correct otherwise it wouldnt even cover the apprentices wage.
