just wondering if the correction values are right on my car, my car when running at operating temp will only go over 80deg on hot day or leaft to sit in traffic. In my water temp settings the correction value 1.00 is set at 80deg does that mean that the car will only run full power wehn above 80????

Nah its got nothing to do with power, the values are fuel corrections. 1.00 means there is no correction 1.10 means 10% and 1.20 means 20% all numbers over 1.00 are adding fuel, corrections like 0.90 are 10% deductions.

Ok, I think I got it, however if its adding fuel then would it start to run rich most of the time then therefore not potentially running richer AFR etc possibly loose power? At normal running temps my car will not go over 80deg only if its been sitting in traffic and heat soaking. so I may change it to 78 and see what happens.

Just leave the over 80deg at 1.00 on low load and 1.00 on high load which is the left and right columns. For the next lowest temp which is over60deg I think, leave it also at 1.00 left column and 1.00 right column. You will save a lot of fuel and your car will run cleaner as a result. After that though, you will have to add a little fuel for best results. Took me around 9mths to slowly get it right. I get 450k's on average around town and 450 to 620 on long trips. You also need to look at accell pump and drastically reduce the numbers for best results.

you cant change the temp values, only the correction at those temps the next one below 80 is 50, i've changed myne to 1.00 at 50 (car never gets to 80) and it drives perfectly. just dont thrash it until its close to full temp.

what temp does your car run at? the power fc interpolates between the temps, meaning if it has 1.00 at 80C and 1.30 at 50C then it'll be 1.20 at 60C and 1.10 at 70C etc. if your cars getting up to 78 it'll be so close to 1.00 it wont make any noticeable difference

hmm this is all rather interesting.. so if its over 80 @ 1.00 would u decrease? or increase?

ps. mine never goes over 80, highest i see it is 78, normally its on about 74 during everyday driving on a hot summer day. I will see 81-83 on a track day.

got you, can only change correction value, and it wont be much anyway will have a look on the way home now and put it up.

Just be aware that adjustments should only be done if the tune needs it. Just leave the over 80deg at 1.00 in the left and right column. It would have to be a really hot day and you would have to be very fussy to want to change that. The next temp down which apparently is 60deg should also be 1.00 or at most 1.003 in the left column. The right column is for high load and will almost definately not need any change. If you really know your car then you will feel the difference even if you adjust by .010. Just never use someone elses tune as a guide, make a small adjustment and see how it goes.

Start at say, temp 10+ when you start it in the morning and gradually trim this setting till the car starts to feel doey when you drive off. You will gradually get better fuel economy and if need be add 1 or 2 richer to get it perfect. Move to the next one above and start the process again. I have my car running almost the same first thing in the morning as when warm.

Remember, left column light load so thats where you need to tune the most unless you thrash your car when cold.

unless someones done some funky shit every power fc's setting should be 1.00 in both colums at 80C.

the next one down from that is 50C and the standard pfc settings (RB20 and 25) for that are 1.094 at 1792 (~P3) load and 1.156 at 8960 (~P13) load

if you have trouble with your car reaching 80C then try lowering the values for 50C but leave 80 at 1.00

    • Bit of a pity we don't have good images of the back/front of the PCB ~ that said, I found a YT vid of a teardown to replace dicky clock switches, and got enough of a glimpse to realize this PCB is the front-end to a connected to what I'll call PCBA, and as such this is all digital on this PCB..ergo, battery voltage probably doesn't make an appearance here ; that is, I'd expect them to do something on PCBA wrt power conditioning for the adjustment/display/switch PCB.... ....given what's transpired..ie; some permutation of 12vdc on a 5vdc with or without correct polarity...would explain why the zener said "no" and exploded. The transistor Q5 (M33) is likely to be a digital switching transistor...that is, package has builtin bias resistors to ensure it saturates as soon as base threshold voltage is reached (minimal rise/fall time)....and wrt the question 'what else could've fried?' ....well, I know there's an MCU on this board (display, I/O at a guess), and you hope they isolated it from this scenario...I got my crayons out, it looks a bit like this...   ...not a lot to see, or rather, everything you'd like to see disappears down a via to the other side...base drive for the transistor comes from somewhere else, what this transistor is switching is somewhere else...but the zener circuit is exclusive to all this ~ it's providing a set voltage (current limited by the 1K3 resistor R19)...and disappears somewhere else down the via I marked V out ; if the errant voltage 'jumped' the diode in the millisecond before it exploded, whatever that V out via feeds may have seen a spike... ....I'll just imagine that Q5 was switched off at the time, thus no damage should've been done....but whatever that zener feeds has to be checked... HTH

    • Hah, fair enough! But if you learn with this one you can drive any other OEM manual. No modern luxury features like auto rev-matching or hillstart assist to give you a false sense of confidence. And a heavy car with not that much torque so it stalls easily. 
    • Actually, I'd say all three are the automatic option. Just the different trim levels. The manual would be RSFS, no?
