I've found one... :D

Based on the following table:

Bosch 910 pump is 200 litres per hour and supports 450 bhp at 73.5 PSI  

Bosch 975 pump is 228 litres per hour and supports 500 bhp at 73.5 PSI  

Bosch 984 pump is 228 litres per hour and supports 500 bhp at 73.5 PSI  

Bosch 044 pump is 330 litres per hour and supports 730 bhp at 73.5 PSI  

Bosch 040 pump is 235 litres per hour and supports 520 bhp at 73.5 PSI

There is a Nismo 4.1Litre per minute or 246 litre per hour intank pump that should support approx 540hp.

Greenline sell them for ~$500 AUD.

if your pump does the same noisy thing when hot then I guess they all do it

was curious to know if anyone elses gets annoyingly louder when its hot (long drive + warmer weather)

im not sure how mine was mounted (its intank), but the only issue i have is that when the fuel gauge is on the second last notch, its classified as "empty" and will surge if it goes lower and i dont fuel up :cheers:

Yes yes yes - mine does this - I thought is was a problem with my pump - but if others do this too -then I guess not ! !

Phewwww - I feel a lot better now ! ! ! !

I have put 55L in mine, guage was well and truely on empty, and it didnt surge - that was with bosch 044.

If you have surge, there is a very good chance that the pickup isnt correctly located. next time you have low fuel, try pulling the pump, and checking that the sock is in the right spot, ie, it locates in the little section at the bottom of the tank designed for it to fit. Also, check the tounges on the back of the fuel pump bracked are secured (fitted) properly in the locator.

Err yeah, but why?

Edit: in tank it will be farkin' expensive. You'd really need to put them in a custom surge tank. But again I ask why? The 044 handles up to 700hp on its own. Combined with a smaller pump you might find it harder to control the fuel pressure. If you want to pair them up it's best to use the same pumps.

If one fails you'd never know, unless you had a really keen ear. You'd be better off just carrying a spare of the same type and the tools to fit it, if you were really worried about pump failure on the road.

The "surging" noise happens because Skylines have a variable resistor for the pump. When 100% fuel pressure is not required ie at idle or light cruising, it increases the resistance and the fuel pump slows down. 

With the PowerFC it seems to vary this a lot more between simply "on" or "off" like the factory ECU does. It also seems to want to vary a lot even when just idling, so the noise becomes a bit more annoying and "groaning" kinda because it dips up and down rather than just clicking between high and low pressure like with the factory ECU.

Joel, if your pump does the same noisy thing when hot then I guess they all do it. Design flaw maybe?

Ive noticed this with my 32...Anything below around 2800rpm, u get the shit groaning noise on/off. Though reving higher I never get it. Is there anything that can be easily changed? I get pretty much the same noises on empty or full.

So you have the pump mounted externally?

Originally my pump was mounted directly the chassis and petrol tank. I used to be able to feel the vibrations at my feet when driving through the floor pan.

I have since rubber mounted it and the noise can still be heard all though it is now heaps quieter & the vibrations have totally gone.

Before you get under the car take it to a car wash place and hit it with the high pressure hose up inbetween the diff and petrol tank other wise you will have lots of dirt and junk in your eyes by the end of the mod.

    • Yeah well per the video it took 15s for the stock unit to start up....even if I give it a few seconds discount for starting that is at least 12 sec before you get a reverse camera if you are trying to leave a park.  The android unit is way faster, but 2016 for the stock unit is a long time ago in consumer electronics
    • Yea that’s why I said ima test them with multimeter and see the reads.

    • Next on the to-do list was an oil and filter change. Nothing exciting to add here except the oil filter is in a really stupid place (facing the engine mount/subframe/steering rack). GReddy do a relocation kit which puts it towards the gearbox, I would have preferred towards the front but there's obviously a lot more stuff there. Something I'll have to look at for the next service perhaps. First time using Valvoline oil, although I can't see it being any different to most other brands Nice... The oil filter location... At least the subframe wont rust any time soon I picked up a genuine fuel filter, this is part of the fuel pump assembly inside the fuel tank. Access can be found underneath the rear seat, you'll see this triangular cover Remove the 3x plastic 10mm nuts and lift the cover up, pushing the rubber grommet through The yellow fuel line clips push out in opposite directions, remove these completely. The two moulded fuel lines can now pull upwards to disconnect, along with the wire electrical plug. There's 8x 8mm bolts that secure the black retaining ring. The fuel pump assembly is now ready to lift out. Be mindful of the fuel hose on the side, the hose clamp on mine was catching the hose preventing it from lifting up The fuel pump/filter has an upper and lower section held on by 4 pressure clips. These did take a little bit of force, it sounded like the plastic tabs were going to break but they didn't (don't worry!) The lower section helps mount the fuel pump, there's a circular rubber gasket/grommet/seal thing on the bottom where the sock is. Undo the hose clip on the short fuel hose on the side to disconnect it from the 3 way distribution pipe to be able to lift the upper half away. Don't forget to unplug the fuel pump too! There's a few rubber O rings that will need transferring to the new filter housing, I show these in the video at the bottom of this write up. Reassembly is the reverse Here's a photo of the new filter installed, you'll be able to see where the tabs are more clearing against the yellow OEM plastic Once the assembly is re-installed, I turned the engine over a few times to help build up fuel pressure. I did panic when the car stopped turning over but I could hear the fuel pump making a noise. It eventually started and has been fine since.
