The odometer went a bit funny about 10 years ago. It says 480,000km, but it has only done 200,000km

I've heard of odometers stopping (especially on R31's) but has anyone run across this situation with an R30?

If the odo says 480xxxKm, there could be a couple of reasons as to why papers state 200000Km. Is that what you're saying - clarify?

Cluster been replaced?

Engine been replaced?

In this case, the owner/seller has had the car for over 20 years. They're saying that the odometer is faulty and has clicked over 480000Km when the car has only done 200000Km. Car is in original condition, no engine or cluster replacement. I haven't seen any papers (or the car) yet.

Or the car has done 480,000 km... seems like the likely explaination to me... :D

Pics of the car are linked below if anyone has time to take a quick look and offer an expert opinion:

200000km or 480000km?

And yes this car does make GTR30's car look good! (Congrats on the sale BTW)

JH (looking for a parts car - obviously many of the panels on this car are no good)

cheers JR...

there could be a couple of reasons..

1:

are there standard size rims on the car?

my car's overall size had changed from the factory one and i have noticed that the speedo was out (higher reading by roughly 10km per hour) which over time will give you a higher odometer reading like mine has. Have checked this on a dyno to an actual speed reading so my car has done less than it shows

2:

another cluster has been put in

3:

the seller is lying about the actual milage

Car looks closer to 480k than 200 by the pics provided
